We are two science professors with a 10-year old son planning on taking a sabbatical in Glasgow, Scotland. We have a large family home up by the FLC campus in picturesque Durango. There are a lot of kids in the neighborhood and we have a grass yard on three sides. We don't have air conditioning, but as long as you open the windows at night in the summer, it doesn't get too hot. It is almost always sunny here, unless it is snowing. People are very active - with lots of skiing, hiking, biking, river rafting, and lake activities nearby. Durango is a touristy mountain town, so there is always something going on, especially in the summer. We are also close to the desert SW, so you can head south an hour, even in winter, and escape the snow. There are several ancestral Puebloan ruins within an hour or two and was are about 1.5 hours from Mesa Verde National Park. The town has some public transportation, but it would be difficult to live in Durango without a vehicle.
