You are now virtually at the end of the world, in historic Cathar country, in a hamlet on the edge of the forest, at an altitude of 500 m in the foothills of the Pyrenees, 100 km from the Mediterranean. If you sleep with the window open at night, you will only hear the sounds of the forest, which can take some getting used to for city dwellers. On the route de campagne further down, a car passes by every half hour. Far away from the big tourist routes, our property is suitable for nature lovers, hikers and those who want to become one. In prehistoric times there were dinosaurs here, whose traces can be seen in the Dino Museum in Espéraza. Real insiders know various restaurants where first-class organically grown Chardonnays, Mauzacs, Grenaches and Merlots are served. But La Solitude is also for people who just want to hang out by the pool for a few days and think about how to arrange the next barbecue. We are a family of doctors from Cologne. Our children are grown up and have left the nest, while we, the parents, enjoy spending time at La Solitude on a regular basis. However, because we are still active on many fronts despite being retired, La Solitude is sometimes unoccupied. That is why we are happy to make our house available to people who want to leave the high stress of everyday life far behind to experience what a real slow-down feels like.
