Our friendly neighborhood is a favourite for walkers with quiet streets leading to secluded beaches and walking trails featuring ocean and mountain views. Our recently renovated home features 3000 square feet of living space with hardwood floors beautiful art, quality custom furniture and modern appliances. Sunlight floods the open plan main floor with a cozy formal seating area around a fireplace and a dining table to seat 8. A casual seating area and breakfast bar are adjacent to the kitchen and there are french doors that lead out to a large deck with BBQ, outdoor dining and day bed. The deck has a southwest exposure with views of Gonzales Bay and across to the snow capped mountains of the Olympic Peninsula The modern kitchen has an electric oven and cooktop, a dishwasher, microwave and large fridge. There are many modern gadgets available for food prep. There is a full bathroom on the main floor. The front porch has side by side adirondack chairs to enjoy coffee in the morning sun. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms. One with a queen bed and the other with 2 king single beds. There is a full bathroom with a shower bath, heated floors and towel rails. A sunroom with large flat screen TV, sofa, swivel recliners and a desk with a view is your upstairs retreat. The sunroom has french doors opening out to a deck with seating for sundowners or to watch the cruise ships heading into Victoria Downstairs in the basement is the laundry with an upright washer & dryer, clothesline, large pantry, storage area and mechanical room. There is a separate one bedroom self contained suite in the basement that is not available for the exchange. Heating throughout the house is electric by silent hot water radiators with a wood burning fireplace in the lounge for extra heat or ambience. There is no airconditioning as sea breezes cool the house. Our fenced rear yard features a cottage garden, apple and pear trees and a vegetable garden. There is storage for bikes and paddleboards to use in Gonzales Bay just 50m from our rear gate. A large apple tree graces the front garden. There is off street parking in the front driveway and at the rear lane. What you will love about our neighborhood Oak Bay features quiet wide leafy streets with small villages and spectacular access to nature. Whether you like hiking in the woods or strolling along the oceanfront, nature is close at hand. There is fantastic cycling along the waterfront which features parks, marinas and a golf course. Fairfield Village is a 10 minute walk and offers convenient grocery shopping. Cook Street Village and Oak Bay Village are a 5 minute drive and offer restaurants, coffee shops and pubs with character. Close to our house is a bus service to downtown Victoria, University of Victoria and Royal Jubilee Hospital. Each is just a 10 minute drive or one could walk downtown in 40 minutes. Downtown Victoria with its scenic inner harbour has wonderful restaurants, shopping, and many historic buildings, art galleries, a museum and a vibrant Chinatown. Victoria also has whale watching, kayak rentals, hiking, theatres, beaches, lakes, year round golfing, beautiful parks, a network of bike lanes and so much more! We are a 35 minute drive from world famous Butchart Gardens, Victoria International Airport or the Swartz Bay ferry terminal with connections to Vancouver and the beautiful gulf islands Rent is $5500 per month and includes all utilities, internet and cable TV.
