Renovated in 2021, this historic home has all the amenities of home, because it's ours! You can have all the creature comforts for a large family in central Houston- 14,000 ft2, fully fenced lot, chef's kitchen, 4 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths. High-quality bedding, tankless water heater, designer touches throughout & seconds from the hike/bike trail. The House. The house was constructed in the 1930's by Joseph Finger, a renowned local architect, for a prominent Houston family, the Weingartens. It fell into disrepair until it miraculously was foreclosed and we purchased it, interior unseen. We then redesigned and rehabbed the home for our own family. It is meant to be comfortable but beautiful. We saved all of the original hardwood floors and other architectural details, but in taking it down to the studs, everything else was effectively replaced. The main house is 3,000 ft2, with 3 bedrooms on the second floor and the primary suite occupying the entire third floor, comprising 700 luxurious feet. The primary even has a coffee bar and mini-fridge! There is an en suite bath to every bedroom- the two rooms share a Jack-n-Jill bathroom with a tub/shower, and the second primary suite has a freestanding tub as well as a shower. The laundry room is also on the second floor. The ground floor is the heart of the home, with a big kitchen, commercial-grade range, huge island, and long peninsula for gathering. There is also a wine fridge and tons of tools for the home chef. We have an open office set up in the Southeast corner of the house, making it easy to keep an eye on the kiddos while they play in the fully-enclosed backyard, where there is already a trampoline ready for them! We are dog-friendly, and there is even a doggy-door that leads to the dog-proofed backyard. Internet is 1G cable, making working from home a breeze. The Neighborhood. The neighborhood is a Houston hidden treasure, with big lots right in the heart of Houston. With the Bayou Hike/Bike Trail and the Columnia Tap Rail-Trail just steps outside the front door, you can easily access everything from the Museum District, Hermann Park and even downtown Houston in a matter of minutes on your bike, safely. There is an Aldi's just 5 minutes away, and a new HEB supermarket even closer- on the other side of the bayou. The neighborhood is safe and the neighbors are very friendly. The Commute. The central location is unbeatable. Whether you need to get to the TMC quickly, are working at one of the local universities (Rice, University of Houston, and Texas Southern being the closest) or are based in downtown Houston, you can avoid the rush hour traffic that overtakes our highways, since everything is just a quick inner-city commute!
