As an academic and lifelong student in sociology, I offer my home as a sanctuary for fellow scholars, students and writers. Alongside my lovely companion, Gyra, the neighbour's cat, I welcome guests from Autumn to Spring. Passionate about critical social theory and social justice, I find solace in writing with the Geelong Writers Group. My home has been a haven for a wide range of guests of all ages and many countries. It is proudly LGBTIQA+ friendly and I am an active member of local rainbow communities. Summer is a busy holiday season in Geelong, so my home is listed for holiday rental then, a source of income in between sessional teaching. I am listing my home for the quieter season now. If you cannot see a date listed, please message me. I may be found delving into research at home or teaching or studying on campus by day. Evenings are for relaxation – be it reading, TV, or conversations over meals and board games. The private bedroom is well-appointed, has ample storage, and overlooks the garden and quiet street. There are block-out blinds. You have full access to the shared spaces, including a beautifully large bathroom and bath. Your room and the bathroom are both lockable. Children and pets are welcome by negotiation. Room features: Furnished room with a double bed and plush mattress topper, spacious desk, ample built-in-robes, and high-speed internet. The room overlooks the front garden and quiet street. Suits a couple for shorter stays, and more suited to one person for longer stays. Bed can be folded up for space during the day. Shared living: Enjoy the large bathroom, well-appointed kitchen, or cozy living room with rainbow-sorted bookshelves and a reading nook. Sit out in the sunny decking area or on the patio overlooking the garden and bird bath. Enjoy camaraderie by co-writing or enjoying meals with an academic and writer. Local attractions: Explore scenic bayside walks and the Pakington Street cafes, all within a 20-minute stroll. Amenities: Your stay includes breakfast, tea, coffee, and essential pantry items. Utilities and wifi are included. The house has ceiling fans, central heating, air-conditioning and smaller heaters if needed. Deakin University Waterfront Campus is a 5-minute drive, 10-minute cycle, 20-minute bus, or 35-minute bayside walk away. It overlooks the bay and is centrally located amongst cafes, shops and restaurants. Come and restore yourself in the quiet comfort of this home. Enjoy the local bayside walks or friendly local cafes, and join me in cultivating a nurturing space for thought and creativity.
