If you are an academic doing research at the Library Of Congress, a Supreme Court Fellow, or work on Capitol Hill, you will enjoy this fully furnished apartment in the heart of Washington DC's Capitol Hill. About the Apartment You enter this one bedroom, english basement apartment and step into a large, spacious living room. The front bay window faces east and gets plenty of morning light. Right next to it, a grandfather's desk for writing. For entertainment; a flat screen TV with cable and HBO, DVD player with a selection of movies, and Roku (TV streaming). There is also a large closet in the front room. As you make your way into the well equipped kitchen, you pass by a dinning nook with cafe style table and chairs. Recently purchased combo washer/dryer is also located the kitchen. The back door leads to a serene back yard with a grill. The bedroom features a double bed with memory foam topper, another large closet, and a designer lighted night stand. The bathroom has been recently upgraded with new paint, tub resurfacing, new shower head, and a new cabinet. About the Neighbourhood We are located on the corner of two one way streets, so the traffic is minimal and the noise level low. If you head north on our street, after a short 4 block walk you will find yourself in front of the Library of Congress' Madison building. But before you get there; after walking for 2 blocks, if you need to commute, the Capitol South metro station on Blue/Orange line is on your left, and a Capitol Bikeshare station is on the right. If you head east from the apartment, Eastern Market and all the restaurants on Barracks row are a 10 min walk, passing the convenience store and Marion Park along the way. If you're a sports fan, head south through the Garfield and Canal parks and after another 10 min walk, you'll get to the National's Ballpark. After the game, stop by the Yards park, relax by the water end enjoy a free summer concert. Harris Teeter is an easy walking distance, and Whole Foods Market is half a block from the house. About Us We are a family with three young boys, and have lived here for over 15 years. We've travelled extensively abroad and domestically, including some far flung places, such as Antarctica and Iowa. We have also lived abroad and between us, speak 4 languages. Rent includes all utilities, high speed WiFi, cable with HBO and Roku (TV streaming). Pets are considered on case by case basis and require additional pet deposit and a cleaning fee.
