Offering our fully furnished guest suite for sublet while the current doctoral student who occupies it is on research stay in Germany. Available July 24- August 19 and Sept 7, 2024 - Jan. 1 or 2 (flex), 2025. Excellent opportunity for a visiting scholar or postdoc on short research stay, or someone seeking a temporary perch while looking for longer term housing. Quiet, ambient setting offers excellent working conditions for someone seeking a calm refuge. Guest suite located on lower level of a 3-level home built into hillside. Suite has own entrance and opens onto back deck and spacious gardens; picture window and window seat overlooking gardens; has fully equipped modern Ikea kitchen, full bath, and bedroom/living area with Queen bed, computer desk with keyboard tray, excellent ergonomic and fully adjustable desk chair. Bedding/towels provided. New washer/dryer in lower level, shared with us; high-speed internet and all utilities (heat and electricity) included. This is an unusual property, located on a ravine. During summer we have an extraordinary floral garden, deck space with outdoor couch and patio furniture, grill, large sun umbrella, electrical outlets for laptop. Perfect inspirational spot for reading/writing/ and yoga amid the scent of blossoming bergamot and flowering pollinators. Walking distance to supermarket. Public Transit: either walk 2 blocks to hop on 23 bus south to Main Station, or #8 bus west to Broadview Station, or 25 min walk through Taylor Creek park directly to Main Subway Station. Total door-to-door travel time (bus + subway) to U of T/St. George campus is roughly 40 min. Same travel time by bike (40 min). Lake Ontario/Beaches and outdoor olympic pool and kid's pool just a 15-min. drive or 25-min bike ride south of our home. Our setting can be a haven for anyone seeking a balance between downtown culture/work and grounding in quiet space with nature. In July/August, tomato and kale are ready for harvesting; herb garden with basel, thyme, parsley, rosemary, catnip (for kitties) lemon balm, and mint. Raspberries in August.
