I'm delighted to have on offer a fully furnished 2 bedroom semi in Camperdown - to share with 1 other if you are travelling solo, although I am also open to proposals for full rental of the house (price negotiable) or exchange over shortish timeframes, especially over December-January. I have lived happily in the house for 10 years, both with a series of flatmates and alone. It's well appointed and luxurious, if by luxury you mean (as I do): good but not over the top facilities and furnishings, lots of light, a layout that offers a sense of space in a home of quite modest dimensions, proximity to libraries, parks, good food and nice bars, and lots of peace and quiet for reading, thinking and writing. There are two quite generous bedrooms with decent storage, and the open plan living area is easy care and friendly, The kitchen is modern and well-equipped if a little scruffy around the edges in places; I love to cook and I have a fair few appliances to prove it. The bathroom, while on the small side, has a great shower. There is also a self-contained laundry (front-loading washing machine but NB: no dryer) and a leafy paved courtyard at the rear of the house. The neighbourhood is lively but quiet: close to Newtown but at a comfortable distance from the heart of a nightlife that's returning to its own now that COVID lockdown restrictions are easing. The house is located on the Newtown / Camperdown border and is within easy reach of King Street's renowned shopping precinct, restaurants and bars, excellent coffee shops, two parks, and numerous bus and train lines. It would be ideal for visiting academic staff or postgraduate students visiting Sydney for short periods (archival research, conferences etc). Australia Street is much-loved. It leads down the hill from King Street towards Parramatta Road and is quite a pedestrian thoroughfare, which can be as entertaining as an episode of Emmerdale at 3 in the morning on a Friday or Saturday night. Traffic on the street is moderate and you can expect some aircraft noise depending on which runway at Kingsford Smith is operating from about 6am to 11pm. This particular aural backdrop ceased during recent COVID lockdowns, but is sadly on the rise again. While I am open to short-term rentals of the entire house, my preference is for visiting academics or students who are on short solo flights to Sydney for conferences or a spot of research. The room available for that option, rather than a whole house rental, is quiet with a nice northerly aspect. It's furnished with a very comfy queen-sized bed, built-in-wardrobes, a few bookshelves which I can clear to your requirements, a desk and even an Apple laptop and inkjet printer if required. Reliable high-speed internet, streaming services, utilities and fortnightly cleaning are included in the price. I am fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and would expect anyone seeking to take up the rental or exchange offer to be the same. You would be sharing with a small and incredibly friendly dog called Teddy, a toy poodle x shih tzu. He's pretty cute, but a non-dog-lover would find the situation difficult, given that he pretty much has the run of the house.
