Designed by world famous architect Richard Neutra in 1949, and meticulously restored to its pristine glory, this jewel of a house perched in the south hills has stunning wraparound views of Missoula Valley and surrounding mountains. The open plan creates an incredible, spacious feeling, and the master bath/bedroom is a dream. Heath Tile in all bathrooms. The kitchen is completely restored, with all new appliances, stainless steel countertops, cabinets, pantry, shelves. There's 3/4 of an acre of yard, private driveway, and a community park next door. The open plan on both floors creates an airy spaciousness, and walls of windows (including an enormous glass sliding door) bring you in full contact with the outdoors-- warm and cozy in the winter, apple crisp in the autumn, bright and breezy in the summer. We've decorated with a curated, "handmade modern" feeling, beautiful vintage furniture, lots of art, to make the most of the space (and the climate). Four bedrooms, two offices, a bright balcony, sunny flagstone patio with picnic table and benches; big, sweeping lawn with hammock, private driveway, new washer, dryer, refrigerator, espresso machine, huge kitchen with views onto Mount Sentinel, lovely breakfast nook, good sledding hill, access to private community park, trampoline(!), apple trees, shade trees— all make this a unique getaway for ski season, lilac spring or high summer. You can walk onto the Highlands Golf course right above us, or walk down the hill and hike up onto Mt. Sentinel and Crazy Canyon in the summer. Or X-Country ski out the back door, or drive just up the road to nearby Pattee Canyon Ski Area, and warm yourself at our huge stone fireplace afterwards. Overlooking the University District, very close to shopping centers, boutique shops, numerous restaurants; an 8-minute drive or bus to downtown; 25 minutes to Snobowl ski area; 15 minutes to Pattee Canyon Recreation Area; 20 minutes to airport, 10 minutes and you're on (or in) the Bitterroot, Clarkfork or Blackfoot river. There is a master bedroom with a queen bed, two guest rooms with queen beds, and a kids room with twin beds-- good for kids up to about 8 or 9. There's also ample space for airbeds, and a cozy couch. Four Bathrooms (two showers, two baths), many amenities for kids (including play area, doll houses, and big trampoline), wifi/broadband internet, cable TV + Netflix/Hulu, etc. There is a glamping tent on the front lawn in summer and early fall, perfect for safe, private but "outdoor" sleeping on warm summer nights. We have done much to bring this unique home back to its original glory-- burnishing a diamond in the rough, and the rough was pretty darn brilliant, to begin with.
