** I updated the rental price and I updated the description of public transport, see below** I have worked at Penn State for 23 years and I have shared my home with visiting scholars. I like hosting guests. My home was built in 2013. I am offering a private bedroom and a bathroom that is shared with one other person. All utilities and high speed wifi are provided, and my laundry and kitchen are available to share. I have central heat and air. I pay for lawn care and residents of the house work together on snow removal. The hot water supply is good. Floors are wood and carpet in good condition. ***If you write to inquire, please include your preferred start and end dates.*** Parking for one car included, if needed. The bus ride to town and campus varies (typically 26 min). See below for details on other transportation options. The yard is not large, but you can sit on my deck. My kitchen includes many different cooking tools, dishes, pots and pans, etc. Your room has a queen size bed, a bedside table, a lamp, and bed linens if you need them. My house is ~3 miles from the west end of campus, ~4 miles from the student union at the center of campus (aka the HUB). Bike paths to campus are nearby. TO GO DOWNTOWN: One bus line (the K route) serves my neighborhood---walking time to the bus stop is 12 -15 min (0.6 mile). Hourly service is available Mon-Friday, with fewer buses on Saturday and none on Sunday. There is a cool new ride share service. CATABUS says that this new service, CATAGO, will serve my neighborhood. You can schedule a ride on CATAGO and they pick you up. The price is the same as a bus trip ($2.20 per person each way). CATAGO can take you downtown or to the grocery store. HOWEVER, it is a ride share service so precise timing of pick up varies. You may need to wait to be picked up. The Penn State campus is enormous. Google maps gives accurate directions/distances to specific campus buildings and it also shows bus routes and stops, although sometimes it indicates that a campus location is not served by a bus when the bus stop is walkable from that location. Check the distance to your office **and the bus schedule** to be sure that this location (Meadowhawk Lane) works for you. My house is in a lovely neighborhood of newer homes. Neighbors are friendly and the area is very safe and quiet. There is a winery and open farm land only a 10-15 min walk away. There are grocery stores and pharmacies downtown (near campus), including stores and the farmers market near the bus stop. Large grocery stores and Walmart are ~ 3 miles away from the house. A taxi or Uber to downtown State College is $12-$16, depending on where you are going. Two restaurants are in walking distance from the house (~1.2 miles): an excellent local diner serving breakfast and lunch, and a high-end restaurant and bar specializing in southern American food. I have a small dog who is quiet and hypoallergenic. She will be happy to see you when you come to do your laundry, but she does not go into the studio. I am looking for a tenant who is quiet, responsible, a nonsmoker with no pets. Please feel free to ask questions, even if you do not rent from me. I know the area well. Natives were so kind to me in Australia and England, I'm happy to pay it forward. good luck to you !! PS. I have two reviews---one is from a tenant at my former address in State College (Helen). Note that she describes a shorter walk to campus. See above for details about my new location.
Comments: I am offering a furnished bedroom and bath with shared use of the kitchen, living room, laundry, and driveway. The room includes a queen size bed, a laptop desk, a dresser and a bedside table. The house was built in 2013 and it is clean and quiet
