Come see why folks are flocking to the beautiful Connecticut coastline in this charming, comfortable and spacious private home, owned by a professor at a university in New York City. The whole house has been designed to create happy memories for our family, and I look forward to sharing it with a professor or researcher who might need to spend Fall 2024 and/or Spring 2025 in the greater New Haven area. It's a three-bedroom, two-bath house with a fenced-in backyard and two-car garage. The house is newly renovated with everything you need, down to the corn on the cob holders. It's tastefully decorated, but also comfortable. Nothing is so precious that you have to worry about it, but everything is nice. There are games and streaming tv for relaxing evenings. Internet is fast. There's a wood fireplace for chilly nights, and we provide the wood and fire starters so you can get a fire going quickly. The house is sunny and airy. Nearly every room has a high ceiling and skylight. You'll find two large bedrooms upstairs with one bath. One bedroom has a queen bed and one has two twin XLs with a kit to combine them into a King if needed. Lower-level third bedroom has a queen bed and a sofa that folds into a single bed. On the main level, you'll find both a living room and family room--the living room with a fireplace and a family room with a large television. There is another bathroom downstairs with a large tub and a shower. There's an outdoor shower as well. The dining room has a really cool wooden map of the world on one wall, which has spurred many an interesting conversation. The kitchen is large and has a table and pantry. Dishwasher and microwave both new. Kitchen is well stocked. We've tried to include everything you could want, from dishes to pots to small appliances. There are four kinds of coffee makers--Nespresso, Keurig, regular coffee maker and an espresso pot for the stovetop! Other recent upgrades include a marble-topped new vanity in the upstairs bathroom and a new air conditioner/heat pump in the kitchen. The house is just 1/2 block to a quiet private beach, just for the residents and guests on this street--meaning you! You can bring a dog to the private beach, which you cannot do at town and state beaches during summer. Or head to the amenity-filled East Haven Town Beach with its white sand, just a 5-minute stroll away along the shore (or you can drive over and park there, too). The Town Beach is one of the nicest on the shoreline. The house is up a hill so no worries about flooding in bad weather. You should be able to use the beach in September and possibly even into October. It's on Long Island Sound so no big waves, but the sea air is divine! You will have the whole house and the private, fenced yard and half the garage, where you can park--except for one closet in the master and the boiler room. The driveway holds several cars and there is also street parking. The house has basic equipment for small children, including gates for top and bottom of stairs you can install if necessary and a high chair. There is also a pack and play for infants, with a small changing table on top. There is a large washer and dryer as well. It would be very good to have a car here, but there is a city bus that goes to downtown New Haven about four blocks away. Please message about pets. We do accept well-behaved animals who won't damage the house. The house comes with a litter box, pet bowls, and a few pet toys.
