About Me

I'm a Pennsylvanian in my mid 30s working on a PhD at a business school in Cambridge, MA. I'm joyfully married to an amazing researcher and writer who is senior editor at Harvard Public Health Magazine. We are looking to move out of the city to better enjoy nature and for more space to start growing our family. I have enjoyed a diverse journey of learning and working. Some highlights: I taught a course on the history of walking at Syracuse University (my alma mater); private chef'd for a well-known art impresario in New York City; and hiked the 46 Adirondack High Peaks with my wife to raise $11,000 for Doctors Without Borders. I had a mini career in macroeconomics and finance before I made a move to academia. I have a MA from the University of Chicago; studied philosophy on a Fulbright at the University of Helsinki; and was lab manager at Cornell's business school for three years. In 2020, I joined the PhD program in economic sociology at MIT's Sloan School of Management. My wife and I love the academic and intellectual ferment of Cambridge and Boston, but we yearn for easier access to the mountains (we're hiking NH's 48 High Peaks), and more space for what we plan to be our growing family this year. We seek short- and longer-term housing in the western and northern exurbs of Boston, as well as New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. I'm new to SH but a world traveler with experience and references as a host and traveler on CouchSurfing.com (link below).
