We are a family of four relocating to San Diego later this year as I have just accepted a new faculty position in Political Science at USD. While we are from California, we have been living in Iowa for the last 2.5 years. We would ideally love to find a long-term, unfurnished rental in SD that will give us a base from which to get to know neighborhoods until we find a home to buy (ideally 18-24mos.) We are a two-mom family and we have two little kids (twins, they are 7!) We also have two fairly small dogs. Huckleberry is an 11 yr old pug mix (about 20lbs), he enjoys napping, more napping and snuggling. And Holly is a 2.5 year old humane society mystery mutt who looks like a collie but behaves like a koala (about 35lbs) who enjoys playing with her toys and being goofy. They are both fully housebroken, well-behaved, vaccinated and crate trained. We are very flexible on neighborhood and indoor space, but a decent amount of fenced outside space is ideal. We are happy to take care of gardens/plants as well as mail. We are a quiet family (not looking to host any parties!) just looking for a safe and comfortable place in which to get to know SD. Please reach out with any questions or possibilities!

Hello! I am an Assistant Professor in Law, Politics & Society. I earned my PhD at UC Berkeley (go Bears!) and have been working at at Drake University since 2021. I will begin in the Political Science & International Relations department at the University of San Diego in fall 2024. I am a socio-legal scholar and I read, write and teach about law, migration, and climate change. I am particularly interested in how we talk and think about public institutions and the future of law. I teach courses in immigration, law & society, constitutional law, climate change, and popular culture. When I'm not at work I enjoy spending time with my wife, kids and dogs. I love to cook, bake, read and travel!
