Linking Australia America and Sweden
We rented our family home in Brisbane, Australia to four researchers from the University of Ohio. They needed accommodation close to The University of Queensland for 9 weeks while they underook a research project. The rent we received enabled my husband and two small boys (ages 2 and 4) to come with me to Sweden, where I attended a conference and visited research groups as part of my PhD project. So we were able to make a family experience out it. Our American tenants were wonderful. They cared for our home very well, and even looked after our dog. It was reassuring to rent out our home to others from the academic world, with similar objectives and values. We all gained greatly from the experience.
