Charming, sun-filled bungalow with deck in Oakland's Glenview neighborhood

About our home Our charming, cozy family home features a sun-filled, open floorplan with hardwood floors throughout. The open concept living/dining area is airy and super comfortable, with a giant sectional couch and TV, and also a great place to work. The primary bedroom is spacious and quiet, with French doors that also open directly onto the deck and garden. We have two children, so one of the rooms is a kids' room with bunk beds and lots of great books. We love to cook in the airy, well-stocked kitchen with granite counters, a Viking range, and updated appliances, and large French doors that open out to our gorgeous redwood deck with outdoor living room, 5-burner gas BBQ, and retractable awning. The spacious garden is our favorite place, with a large lawn, climbing roses, a giant Japanese maple and mature trees providing lots of privacy and a blissful outdoor shower. Plants include a seasonal kitchen herb garden, Northern Brewer hops, Concord grapes and mature fruit trees including Fuji apple and a year-round Meyer lemon, among others. Gigabit fiber connection and an Orbi mesh WiFi network makes working from here easy. We have streaming services, but no cable TV. We're looking for someone to care for our home as they would their own. We want someone who will take advantage of the amazing place we live, and enjoy the Bay Area. Also, it's a historic house (1916!) and has some minor quirks so some comfort with that is ideal. Some garden watering would be helpful, along with taking care of our incredibly sweet and sociable older black kitty, Ines. We're willing to discuss the use of our low-mileage, excellent condition 2016 Mazda CX-9, if desired. Location The Glenview District is a perfect combination of quiet little streets and walkability to public transit, coffee, restaurants, and shops (we also have great neighbors!). Glenview village is steps away from our home, with destination restaurants Marzano and Bellanico, an awesome burger joint, Park Burger, run by a neighborhood family, Paulista, a Brazilian taproom, a well-stocked grocery store, and other local businesses. There's quick access to San Francisco with casual carpool and trans-Bay bus service at the end of the block. By car: We are less than 20 minutes to downtown SF at non-peak times, 5 minutes to Oakland's Grand Lake neighborhood and Lake Merritt, 10 mins to Uptown Oakland destinations like the Fox Theater, restaurants, and top cocktail spots, 10 minutes to beautiful redwood groves and hiking trails in the hills, and 15 mins to University of California, Berkeley campus.
