Our home is a legal two-family 1899 row house in the heart of leafy brownstone Brooklyn. We currently occupy the entire three story row house (plus partially refinished basement), but it could be available in any of the following configurations: - two-floor duplex (2 bedrooms + office/guest/laundry room + 2 bathrooms + dining room + kitchen + living room + garden) - top-floor apartment (2 bedroom OR 1 bedroom + office/dining room + 1 bathroom + kitchen + living room) - or the entire building The two units have a secure door between them that can be left open or locked depending upon the configuration. There are separate entrances for each unit when they're not combined. The ground floor level encompasses a living room, dining room, kitchen, full bathroom (shower), office/guest/laundry room with a double murphy bed access to a private garden. The second level includes a bedroom with a king sized bed, a bedroom/office with a queen bed and a full bathroom (tub). The third floor encompasses a living room, galley kitchen, bedroom with a double sized bed, bedroom with a twin sized bed and full bathroom (shower). The entire house has been lovingly renovated over the past 13 years and has a clean, contemporary aesthetic. It's very family friendly, as is the neighborhood at large. Our home is located in the Crown Heights Historical District in central Brooklyn. The neighborhood is known for its beautiful brownstones and culture. Within walking distance you'll find several parks and playgrounds, the Brooklyn Children's Museum, Brooklyn Public Library and a plethora of restaurants, bars and cafes (the nearest of which is one block from our house). Other cultural gems including the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Prospect Park are only a little distance further. There are very good public transportation options walking distance away, including numerous buses (3-5 minutes), subway lines (3 train - 7 minutes; 4 train - 10 minutes; C train - 15 minutes). UBER and LYFT taxis are plentiful, as are share bikes and an increasing number of bike lanes (we are regular bikers ourselves). Lower Manhattan is accessible by subway in under 30 minutes; Central Park in 45 minutes. But we truly love Brooklyn and encourage you to explore Bed-Stuy and Prospect Heights, our sister neighborhoods. Park Slope, Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Clinton Hill, and Brooklyn Heights are all within an easily accessible distance. We're avid HomeExchangers and recommend checking out the profile links below for additional photos of the top floor flat and home reviews.

Comments: Bills include electric (we have solar), heating, and cooking gas. We're open to covering utilities for a home exchange.
Comments: No smoking inside, but this would be ok outside as long as they're properly disposed.
Our backyard would need to be maintained with light watering, raking and sweeping. You'll also be responsible for maintaining the curb in front of the house, including sweeping, raking and snow shoveling.
Comments: Trash must be separated into recycling (two streams: paper/cardboard + plastic/metal/glass), compost, and regular trash. Trash must be put on the curb for pick up x3/week; recycling + compost x1/week.

Allergies are a concern
I would like a car if possible
Comments: One of us is allergic to cats, so we'd require a deep clean for any homes that previously housed a feline. We will need a car in Australia and are happy to take care of yours, but assume we will need to secure our own. We do not have a car in NYC.
