Peaceful backyard cottage on Berkeley/Oakland border near Ashby BART

I am open to rentals of as little as one week if there are fewer than 30 days between other reservations, but will give preference to longer term tenants. Please have employment, landlord, and personal references available if you would like to complete an application. Move in requires 1st month's rent plus a security deposit of $2000 for stays of more than one month. Stays of up to one month require a $750 security deposit. The security deposit is refundable within 21 days upon completion of lease agreement and move out, with any damage and cleaning fees deducted. Cleaning fee is $100. Ideal for one person but can easily fit two. Plenty of couples have stayed here and been quite comfortable. I am looking for a quiet person(s) who will also keep my beautiful cottage neat and clean. Below is one of dozens of Airbnb reviews. Perfect for visiting scholars and professors. Detached cottage in my back yard is completely furnished, includes bedding, towels, fully equipped kitchen. The kitchen has a two burner gas stovetop, a combination microwave/convection oven and a full size refrigerator. This is a studio cottage of almost 300 sq. ft. The queen bed sits on a platform with 6 drawers on each side and two long storage drawers that open at the bottom of the platform. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is waiting for you to enjoy. Windows on all walls and double sliding doors create a light filled, peaceful, spacious abode. The gas wall heater will warm up the cottage in a few minutes on cold days and on warm days, just open the windows and the door. There are two neighborhood laundromats within a couple of blocks. I have lived here since 1987, and raised my daughter here. I love my neighborhood and want to share my experience with as many people as possible. A good walk (25 minutes) is up to College Avenue in the Elmwood district where you will find a movie theatre, terrific cafes and restaurants, Wells Fargo Bank, bakeries, ice cream shop, and so much more. Or walk more to the south on College Avenue to enter the Rockridge district for tons of shops and eating establishments. Just a couple of blocks away on Adeline Street and Alcatraz Avenue are good eating places, a Yoga studio, and a few shops. Walk, bike, bus, BART (5 minute walk). All super easy. If you have a car, alert me early so there is time to purchase visitor's parking permits if needed. Street parking is limited to 2 hours, 8 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday except for residents with parking permits. Guest parking permits are $5 per day or $27 for two weeks and the two weeks must be consecutive. Other things to note: BART is a few minutes walk away, as is Berkeley Bowl grocery store, Walgreen's drugstore, post office, yoga studios, cafes, restaurants, laundromats, bus lines. Berkeley's arts district is a 25 minute walk or a short BART or bus ride away. I've already referred to it as a hidden gem, a little slice of heaven, a perfect writer's retreat and would now like to add that it's a place with such beautiful grounding and healing energy that I actually wish I could live there forever. Days seem to last twice as long, food tastes better, despite being close to shops and streets it seems always still and quiet with only the songs of birds breaking that silence. It's a remarkable spot, that has all the comforts one needs and seeks and Zoe is one of the most sweet and most caring people I know. For those who are familiar with "Tales of the City", this place is my Barbary Lane.
