Charming Bright Character Home Near UBC – Private Garden

Although this is an older house, renovations made it comfortable for our family of three. It is spacious, and the kitchen, living room, and one bedroom all worked well as places to write from home. The location is excellent, with several schools nearby, a bus stop two minutes away, making it easy to reach UBC or downtown. EVO cars were usually available nearby as well. The owner was very kind and responsive, the house was professionally cleaned at least once a month, and the garden was beautifully maintained. Although the windows could feel chilly a little and traffic was audible during the day, nights were quiet, the neighbourhood felt very safe. We truly appreciated spending such a wonderful year here.

Alvi was an excellent host. Nice and friendly. She made us feel welcome and everything was easy to solve. A friend now.

Her house is beautiful and well connected to many nice places like beaches and UBC. And its very easy to go from here to the city center, the airport, etc. The house has lots of natural light it is very comfortable and cozy, plus it has a lovely garden. The decor of her house is so nice, we love her style, one call tell she loves the house and takes good care of it!

Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful home. It has made our time in Vancouver so much more enjoyable to have a place to call our own. Alvi is an exceptional host and I highly recommend her home. She is extremely responsive, kind and caring.

The morning it snowed, Alvi was out the front shoveling the snow before we had made it outside for the day.

The house is wonderfully situated in west point grey. It is easy to get to the shops and downtown via the bus which comes right outside the house.

The kitchen is well stocked and the two bedrooms provided ample space. There is a wonderful corner window to soak up the sun.

The house has the bonus of being so close to Pacific spirit Park.

Our time at the Alvina's home was exactly what we needed. And exactly as advertised. The kitchen was well equipped, there were plenty of towels and kitchen linens, etc. The house was comfortable and the neighborhood lovely. We didn't want for a thing.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Alvi's home. She has been very generous and diligent in terms of anticipating and responding to my needs as a tenant. The home itself is very spacious with regard to the living room dining and area, in particular, the master bedroom and the front and back yard/gardens. There is elegant touches throughout the house, symbolized by the genuine wood burning fireplace, and enjoyable selection of books. There is ample furnishings in the highly functional kitchen as well. Everything works and, if anything doesn't, it is attended to promptly by Alvi who lives in the neighbourhood and comes by the place multiple days each week to care for the yard/garden. Finally, the location is extremely convenient being with in three blocks of transit to UBC and downtown, bike route, coffee, groceries, gas station (for wood for the fireplace), not to mention being 6 blocks from the UBC endownment lands (Camosun Bog, Spirit Park with endless trails) and Jericho beach.

My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Alvina's very sweet house in W. Point Grey. It was exactly has shown in the photos and as described: a comfortable, two bedroom house with a wonderful window seat (in the dinning area), a fire place, a well appointed kitchen, a splendid back yard, incredibly easy access to public transportation, and it's located close to UBC and the Spanish Banks beach area. My communications with Alvina were always very timely and easy; and she couldn't have been more pleasant to have as a landlady! I would certainly love to live there again if the occasion arises and the house is not already booked!

We totally fell in love with this cozy old house and we’re very glad that we could rent this place during our stay in Vancouver. We are two exchange students from Germany studying Political Science / Computer Science at UBC. Getting to campus is incredibly quick and convenient with busses stopping right in front of the house and running frequently. It only takes about ten minutes to get to the bus loop at the heart of UBC, from there it’s only a short walk to all important buildings. This location could therefore even be considered better than some of the on-campus housing options like Fairview! Taking the bus the other way takes you right into downtown in about 25 minutes. In our opinion, the house is therefore at the perfect spot in between university and the city centre. The kitchen and bathroom are modern and have everything that we need. This makes our stay incredibly convenient and we didn’t have to worry about a thing when we arrived. Alvi even prepared the bedsheets for us. There is enough space to have friends over and the fireplace is perfect for having a wholesome evening. Having a calm desk is worth a lot for us students. While others have to fight for tables in the libraries, we are undisturbed at our apartment. Most importantly, Alvina was always very responsible to any kind of requests or issues we had and took care of them very quickly and reliably. We got along very well and she was lovely in taking care of us. We would definitely recommend this place for studying or working at UBC and compared to the housing of most of our friends at UBC this is definitely a luxurious option!
