*** WHOLE HOUSE IS COMMITTED AT PRESENT *** Our house consists of a 1250sqft upstairs unit and a 350sqft garden-level studio, so there are many use options. Fit is more important than $s and we'd like a fair price to go to the nonprofits who receive 100% of the rent. Hoping for $1500-$2000 studio $2000-$3000 upstairs unit minus small bedroom (used for storage) $2500-$3500 upstairs unit if studio is rented $3000-$4000 upstairs unit if studio isn't rented $3500-$5000 whole house We're looking for people to enjoy the space and care for it well while we're on sabbatical in Europe. Since we have some severe allergies, that care needs to be free of fragrances, smoke, and synthetic chemicals (see below). In particular, our house isn't a fit if you smoke anything - even outside of the house. If that sounds good, then here are the pros: Upstairs there's a large master bedroom (king bed), a medium bedroom (twin bed + pullout twin), and a full bath with large jacuzzi tub between the bedrooms. The living room has an adjacent sunporch / mudroom. The open kitchen has an adjacent dining & office area overlooking the garden, with another half bathroom. Downstairs is a single large studio space with individual entrance, that we can add more furnishing to if desired. The newly built kitchen corner features its own fridge, dishwasher, Ninja Foodi oven, etc. There's an abundance of built-in shelves, drawers, etc. The bathroom comes with a shower in the sauna - whose heater element is however broken as of now. (Let us know if fixing that would make a difference!) Scroll down for two links with more photos. The basement also contains the laundry and space for bike parking. The garage will not be usable, as we will store our bikes and campervan there. The house is fully electrified — with the exception of a gas dryer – and runs on solar power, including a 10kWh battery and EV charging outlet (240V). There are dedicated outlets for 220V appliances in both kitchens (along with some german/swiss appliances like a fondue-raclette). Rent includes all utilities, heat, internet — assuming there is no extremely wasteful use. Rent also includes bimonthly cleaning by our longterm cleaning team, who speak spanish and english. The garden features fruit trees & shrubs (lime, lemon, 2 apples, cherry, plum, fig, persimmon, blackberries, raspberries, grapes), beds with currently mostly vegetables, a little lawn, a patio, another sitting area with fire ring, and a tree house on top of the garden shed. Parking is easy in the driveway and/or on the street with a Berkeley residential permit. It's also just a quick walk to public transit of all kinds, and this is a very bikeable part of Berkeley. Neighbours on all sides are wonderful people. The neighbourhood is quiet and tree-lined with a practice that social gatherings outdoors are quiet by 10:00 pm. Practical gems within a few blocks: Berkeley Bowl Grocery Store, Whole Foods, Thai Temple Sunday Brunch, Chochmat Ha Lev Synagogue, Starry Plough Pub (pub grub & entertainment), White Horse Bar (gay icon), and so much more! This is truly in a delightful, safe, and alive neighborhood. Frangrance-free Details: * No smoking of any kind - in or outside of the house. * Our cleaning team uses unscented products. If you want to do extra cleaning, we ask that you use the same products or check with us. * There is unscented laundry detergent to start with, and we ask that you keep using the same product from a nearby grocery store. * You are free to use your choice of bodycare products. Just please avoid anything that is sprayed, air-dispensed, or would leave longterm residues. * Please don't bring "air fresheners" into the house - even if they are labeled "natural". We can make recommendations if there are smells that you'd like to manage. * Don't hesitate to ask about anything!
