Elegant Cottage in Oxford

There are so many things to recommend about this Oxford home. First, our terrific hosts, who quickly attended to any issues that arose, and whom we enjoyed getting to know. We were also thrilled to discover such warm and friendly neighbors, who helped us settle in and find activities for our son. The house itself is lovely and was perfect for my family. The neighborhood is also fantastic – two minutes from the canal path into central Oxford, and a very short walk to the beautiful Port Meadow, where we spent many afternoons strolling amongst the horses and cows. Plus a nearby weekend farmers market, beautiful village church, and a vibrant and inviting community. We highly recommend this home to visiting scholars and their families!

We spent five months in this charming and well situated house. It had all the amenities we needed, and everything worked well including a good internet connection. The owners were kind, easily accessible and followed up conscientiously. Slightly withdrawn from the city centre, the area has a village feeling, and we enjoyed the proximity to the meadow, canal, local pubs and Wytham Woods. The walk to town along the canal is a blessing, and observing spring blossoming in the neighbourhood and garden was a joy. We can warmly recommend this place to a small family like ours.

The cottage is well-situated for sabbatical stays at Oxford. It is tastefully decorated and nicely furnished.

My husband and I stayed in the cottage for the better part of a year, thanks to a flexible arrangement with the owners. We were very comfortable in every respect, and even managed to temporarily house a musical instrument in the living room, which was of great benefit to us. The house was given over to us very clean, with linens pressed practically in the manner of a fine hotel, and there was even a welcome pack of supplied in the kitchen to get started. The carpets had also been professionally cleaned. The neighbors on the block are lovely, and the area is very quiet, punctuated on some days by the lovely ringing of the church bells next door. Clare and Enge were easy to reach for any problems or queries and are lovely people!

I spent 6 months with my family in the cottage. There were 3 of us and the house fulfilled our expectations very well in terms of space, all the necessary equipment and a lovely garden.

The cottage is located in a nice, quiet neighbourhood just a few minutes away from wonderfull Port Meadow and Oxford channel. There is plenty of nice spots around including a couple of pubs, local Sunday market and nice restaurants not far away. The city centre is easy to reach with buses or bike (max 15 minutes to the centre).

Our host was also very nice and responsive and always ready to answer to our inquiries.

I'd be definitely keen to come back if I ever happen to live in Oxford again.
