This is a beautiful and sunny historic property built in the 1890s. It is perfect for a family, or for a couple who works from home. It has a newly renovated porch, a new deck, a large backyard, and a magical little tower on the third floor. There are 5 bedrooms. The two rooms on the third floor have been used as offices or bedrooms. The other three bedrooms are in the second floor. The master-bedroom has a beautiful bay window and a luxurious, fully renovated ensuite bathroom. The other two bedrooms share a bathroom. All bedrooms have full closets. In the first floor there is a living and dining room separated by pocket doors. There is a daybed and a great library full of books. The kitchen is beautifully renovated and a delight to cook and dine in. The back deck has a garden table and a bbq. The back patio has an "ofuro," or Japanese-style hot tub, and the large backyard has a vegetable garden and a treehouse. There is a private parking space in the driveway. The house is situated in Marble Hill, a charming and unique neighborhood in the northwest of Manhattan. It is still “old New York" here, with traditional kosher Delis, Russian & Polish supermarkets, Mexican & Caribbean restaurants. A 10-12 min walk takes you to the beautiful Inwood Park, which is the only old growth forested park in Manhattan. There are dozens of great restaurants and cafes around Inwood Park. The magnificent bike lane that stretches along the western edge of NYC, following the Hudson River, starts in Inwood Park. The house is a 5 min walk from Broadway & the 225th street subway stop on the 1 line, and the very fast and convenient Metro North stop is a 5 min walk from the house. The Metro North gets you into Grand Central in approx 20 min. It also stops in central Harlem, on 125th St, and which is approx 10 min away. Google “Marble Hill” to find out about the strange and wonderful history of this hidden gem of a neighborhood!

Comments: Marble Hill is the northernmost neighborhood in Manhattan, though it has a Bronx zip code. It was separated from Manhattan in the 19th century, when the canal connecting the Harlem and Hudson rivers was dug up. It is a small neighborhood, with beautiful old houses.
