Our home is a 10-minute walk away from Krumme Lanke lake and just a little further away from Schlachtensee lake in the district of Zehlendorf to the south-west of Berlin. The location is quiet and very pretty, and is close to a selection of shops, farmers’ markets, schools and public transport, with a playground (including basketball court) almost next door. A 10-minute walk will bring you to the U-Bahn station (Onkel-Toms-Hütte or Krumme Lanke on the U3) from where the subway will take you into the centre of Berlin. The Freie Universität (Free University) is a 15-minute bike ride away and Potsdam University is about 20-25 minutes away by car or train. Our row house is located in a forest-like neigbourhood, is fully furnished, has rooms on four levels and a garden. Ground floor: Hallway; open-plan kitchen / dining room (with a table for 6 to 8 people) / living room. First floor: Bathroom; teenage bedroom with single bed and desk; child’s bedroom with bunk beds and desk; study with desk and ladder to attic. Attic: Adult bedroom with 140cm double bed. It can get quite hot up here in summer! Very young children will probably need to be supervised using stairs to attic. Cellar: Guest room with 160cm double bed and desk. Separate laundry room with washer and dryer. Backyard: Terrace, barbecue, hammock. This would be a great place for families with up to three children, especially in summer when it is possible to swim in the lake and be in the garden. It would also work for families without children who are looking for somewhere quiet and residential but with easy access to the west of the city.
