Located in the vicinity of Penn, Drexel and convenient to center city arts institutions; ideal for the artistically, philosophically, or poetically inclined faculty/ postdoc: single, couple, or small family. A typical twin-house front porch entrance leads into a art gallery foyer; then through a separate entrance, you are met upstairs with a unique interior of funky elegance. Antique, folk, and contemporary art decor are to be enjoyed: 1820s China to Japanese pottery, an original wrought metal coffee table, prints, pastel, oil paintings, ample skylights and plants throughout. The unit consists of two-stories (the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building). On the 2nd floor a living-dining area flows into a well-equipped chef-friendly, country-style kitchen to the back, with a bedroom/ office in the front. The 3rd floor contains the bathroom with washer and dryer and another two-level bedroom/ office space with loft. The 2nd floor office/ bedroom space features an eclectic family portrait gallery and homeowners’ calligraphy hanging scrolls; the 3rd floor bedroom/ office space contains manga and graphica on the shelves of its upper level. Surprisingly quiet surroundings suitable for contemplation and writing. Good shopping and restaurants just minutes away. Walk, bike, or jog along the nearby Schuylkill River. Right across the river is the museum district! This rental is not merely transactional, but the funds raised go back into house upkeep. Looking for a mature and responsibility tenant to enhance the space and enclave. The right tenant must be friendly with the immediate neighbors, have a house-sitting mindset, and, foremost, be excellent at communication. Neatniks, plant lovers and other nurturers are sought. What is in the house is there to be used and enjoyed, but loving attention and respect is needed towards the plants and furniture. Caretaking includes regular sweeping, wiping, and oiling furniture. Conscientious cleaning habits are essential. The overseer must be notified immediately of any problems. Minimum lease: 5 mos, although longer preferred. The rent is negotiable, and might be negotiated downwards for a responsible tenant after a duration. Additional weeks or months can be negotiated. Aside from regular (daily/ weekly) cleaning habits, the tenant is required to use a specified cleaning service every 3 months (to be paid for by the tenant). University, hospital, or other institutional affiliation preferred. Not considering undergrads.
