Our home is called the “University House” and is a historic 1893 gem with hardwood floors, 2 living rooms, large dining room, and office, a music room, and an expansive backyard garden and firepit. The house was renovated in 2021 including a new kitchen and bathrooms. We are located one block south of the University of Chicago law school campus. The street is a residentially zoned street with families and students. Room Available: We have a fully-furnished sunny large bedroom with its’ own private newly-rehabbed small marble bathroom. Furniture includes a queen size bed, 2 wardrobes and dresser, and a small desk. The room has new windows, light filtering shades, and crown molding. The bath is directly connected to the room, shared with no one else. You have full access to the kitchen, all pots and pans and dishware etc. and one cupboard is designated for all of your food. Bedding and towels are also provided. The rent included all utilities, wifi/internet, and full access to our laundry washer and dryer. Seeking Renter: This units is perfect for a UChicago grad student, a teacher, visiting faculty, an intern, a foreign exchange professor. We are a fairly quite house, not a party home. Location details: We are a block from the new David Rubenstein Forum, just south of the Woodlawn dorm, and less than a 10min walk to campus. The home is walking distance to a grocery (Jewel) a block from the UChicago shuttle, and 8 blocks to the Metra to get downtown. The Best List: The best part of the house (in our opinion) is the backyard in the Summer and Fall. We grow massive food in Earthboxes, have 2 raised beds of cutting flowers, an outdoor patio for dining, and a small firepit with Adirondack chairs. The best part of the location is the proximity to Lake Michigan! We bike there daily, swim at the rocks, picnic, and watch the moons rise.
