Relax on two large decks with expansive views of the ocean all the way to Floreana. At times you can hear the sound of distant ocean surf from the decks. The upper deck has a roofed area for protection from the sun and rain. The first floor is set up with a writer’s desk, fast WiFi and a double bed, while the second floor contains a modern kitchen, queen bed and a sofa large enough to function as a bed. Comfortable sleeping for 4 guests. Large windows, beautiful wooden surfaces and a skylight create an extraordinary atmosphere. The tasteful ambience invites you to relax and offers plenty of space for creative work. We provide hammocks and places outside to sit in the shade (even a swing!) and a place for a bonfire. Located only 15 km from Puerto Ayora (20 minute taxi ride), it is a great place to relax in a rural Galapagos highlands setting away from the hustle and bustle of the town. The kitchen is equipped with a stove and oven, large refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, citrus press and all cooking utensils you may need. You can walk around the property to pick lemons, papayas, bananas, plantains, lemongrass, peppermint, chilis and much more. Safe drinking water is provided by a 5-stage reverse osmosis water purification system with UV-sterilizer that filters our own rain water. Warm water is generated by a powerful solar panel. Our off-grid house is running on 100% solar-panel energy, which provides reliable electricity at all times, as well as a fast WiFi at 182 Mbps, which is ideal for those who want to work away from home. The endemic Scalesia and Guayabillo trees scattered throughout the property provide shade and habitats for birds. Staying at our farm will give you the opportunity to see up to 8 different species of Darwin’s finches, as well as other bird species. The nearest neighbour is about 500 m away and there is hardly any artificial light at night. So, you can gaze at the stars and listen to the night birds, like barn owls and the Galapagos storm petrel. The beautiful Garrapatero beach is 7 km away and can be reached by taxi, biking or walking. Please note that this is a working organic farm. Since we do not use herbicides, the control of invasive weeds is done by a motorized weed trimmer, which represents 90% of the farm work conducted. We will avoid working close to the house while you stay there but if you are staying for more than three weeks, we will consult with you to find a time to do the land maintenance that suits you best. A taxi ride to Puerto Ayora (15 km) takes 20 minutes and costs $10. We provide phone numbers of trusted taxi drivers. You also can walk the 750 m to the main road and flag a taxi or bus. You may also call or flag a taxi for your trip to the beautiful Garrapatero beach.
