This is a very well maintained, charming and spacious 1920s one bedroom and one bathroom apartment in a four-plex located on a very quite and safe street in the Elmwood, which is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Berkeley and in walking distance to shops, cafes, BART, bus, and campus. From the photos you will see that there are hardwood floors, built-in book and dining room shelves, a beautiful kitchen and bathroom that were both recently re-done, and there is a formal dining room to host dinners. The kitchen has a small breakfast nook, gas stove/oven, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and refrigerator that is sunked in the wall (and thus not photographed). There is lots of storage, including a garage which we suggest you not use for parking versus obtaining a residential parking permit to park on the street. There is a shared (non-coin/free) laundry facility in the basement and shared decks and outside space. Utilities and TV/Internet cable service is not included in rent, however the HOA $300/monthly fee is already included in rent. As a renter in this four-plex, you must abide by the HOA rules and bylaws or you will be evicted. Occupancy is limited to one individual or couple and to the use of the one queen sized bed provided; no additional furniture or the use of air mattresses is permitted. We are a UC Berkeley family that lives just around the corner and we are renting our recently purchased and furnished apartment unit until our aging parents are ready to downsize themselves into the apartment, thus we are only considering short-term rental leases. We prefer to host a visiting UC Berkeley graduate student, postdoc, or faculty member, but are open to visiting medics or others in a similar temporary residential need. It was a fantastic decision! First, the apartment is perfect, from the floor plan to the decoration and the amenities, and it is perfectly taken care of. Second, being two blocks from the heart of College street makes it very easy to feel like living in a lively spot with cafes, movies, shops, etc. Third, very easy to take the bus or even walk to (law) school. Fourth, the neighborhood was great for afternoon jogs and long walks (Elmwood, Piedmond, Willard Park, The Upland, etc.). Finally, the host (Laurent) is super accessible and always attentive. In brief, Prince 2826 is a happy place! I highly recommend it."
