Nestled on Paris' Left Bank, my home is a delightful top floor one-bedroom apartment with terrace with an-across-the-square view of one of the five Basilicas in Paris — the perfect spot for a coffee or aperitif. It is a home where I combined traditional Parisian flair with my personal collection of art and books, not a soul-less rental place. The apartment is on the 5th floor, with elevator, north facing, full of day light from all sides. The terrace is just above the quiet, pedestrian church square. Church bells are discreet and not constant. Sometimes, at night, the colourful glass stained rosae is lit right across the apartment. Part Boho part classic Paris, I kept the original details and the old parquet that creaks, balancing the simple white interior with works of art. The living area has a comfortable x-large designer sofa, chimneys and artists’ paintings and photographs. The kitchen is compact yet superbly laid out with every appliance you could wish for. The bedroom is a tranquil space, with a cosy queen-size bed and the perfect wool mattress that is cleaned and restuffed regularly. The bathroom features a rainfall shower and a vanity unit. The elevator is small - for 2, serves just one apartment per floor. Neighbours are discreet, very civilized and kind. The terrace has ever-green, spring-flowering climbers with a programmable automatic watering system. There is wifi. A stereo. No TV. Dishwasher. Oven. Washing machine-dryer. And other appliances. Paris' Left Bank, or Rive Gauche, has been revamped with new business and newly refurbished facades. Streets are clean and peaceful. Four to five blocks away from the Seine, les invalides, Assemblee Nationale, you feel space and can breathe. Visiting tourists nor loud all-bars to disturb your peace. The streets nearby offer everything one needs : restaurants, food shops, dry cleaners, pharmacies, galleries…. You're within easy reach of Paris' parks, and open spaces. And only a short distance from the rue du Bac, Bon Marche, rue Las Cases, rue de Rennes and Saint Germain. It is connected by three nearby subway stops and many buses. Easy access to Orly Airport and train stations.
