This is our second home where we have enjoyed family holidays all year round for the last fifty years. We enjoy this quiet, unspoilt, area where we have now made so many friends over these years. There is NO traffic only the sound of the sea. The house is warm and comfortable with an open fire burning coal or turf. It is easily maintained with maple floors and is simply furnished with tweeds in keeping with the ethos of Donegal and its sustainable woollen industry providing significant employment in the area. Built in wardrobes ia all bedrooms provide ample storage space. With our own business in Interior Design the furnishings and fittings are colourful and comfortable. Established now over fifty years there is an extensive reference library covering local history, Irish history, fish and fishing, Irish birds, Irish wild flowers and butterflies. From the living room window up to eleven species of seabird can be identified The area is quiet, unspoilt with NO traffic noise. We enjoy an island's coastal climate occasionally experiencing up to four seasons, spring, summer, autumn and winter in one day. Educated to degree level in Agriculture we have established a colourful seaside garden with a now long established wildflower meadow. The environment is clean and healthy. Activities include walking on numerous, traffic free, small roads with grass growing down the centre. Kilcar, the neighbouring village a twenty minute walk away, boasts a flourishing walking club. Cycling is popular although Donegal's attractive mountainous terrain might explain the popularity of electric bikes. People swim all year round with a safe beach a five minute walk away from our house. Shore fishing, boat fishing and game fishing is all around you. We enjoy the vibrant local community with a well established fully staffed community centre with excellent IT facilities. There is a strong parish council with active local involvement and a community garden now in its tenth year and flourishing. The interesting visitor centre at Glencolumbcille, thirty minutes away by car, attracts writers, artists and potters and as we are located in the 'Gaeltacht' ( Irish speaking ) area students come to learn the Irish language
