Stone’s Throw at Sea Ranch is a two bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom home done in the quintessential shed style of the Sea Ranch. It features an open concept kitchen, sunken conversation pit, open air loft, game room, entertainment deck, and hot tub. Just steps away from William Turnbull’s landmark Hines House, Stone’s Throw is situated on an arboreal cul-de-sac close to hiking trails, the Moonraker Athletic Club, Black Point Beach, and the recently updated Sea Ranch Lodge. Found at opposite ends of the home to allow for greater privacy, the bedrooms at Stone’s Throw each offer distinct charms and high quality linens. Bedroom One, as part of the home’s original footprint, was first designed by Winfield Scott in 1967. This bedroom features a king-sized bed, personal correspondence desk, and a spa-inspired ensuite bathroom with tiled shower and clawfoot tub. Bedroom Two, built in 1979, features a queen-sized bed and a sitting area with vaulted ceiling, picture windows, and a private Malm fireplace. From Bedroom Two there is direct access to the downstairs game room and an adjacent full bathroom with shower. The Stone’s Throw kitchen, originally designed by Sea Ranch architect Berle Pilsk, has ample counter space and storage. It is outfitted with All-Clad, copper-clad, stainless steel, and enameled cast iron cookware. We have dishware, glassware, and serving ware for both your indoor and outdoor dining needs. Featured designers include Edith Heath, Dorothy Thorpe, Joan Luntz, Couroc of Monterey, and Homer Laughlin. Ever-changing copper countertops and Cedar Mountain cabinets complement our terra cotta floors. Also in the main living space is a dining table for six, a live-edge breakfast bar, and a curated library on the landing. Learn about the flora and fauna you encountered on the trails or curl up with a vintage Phyllis Whitney mystery. The sunken conversation pit features a wood-burning fireplace and soaring picture windows that showcase the redwoods among which the home is ensconced. Upstairs our open air loft is outfitted with furniture you can sink into, a convenient half-bathroom, and a discreet Samsung Frame TV for all your binge-watching needs. Or you can put the Frame in “Art Mode” to forget there is a television there at all. A skylight set in the vaulted redwood rafters helps to bring the outdoors in. Downstairs from Bedroom 2, the game room is packed with puzzles, toys, and games for every member of your party. The fireplace is accented with an original Barbara Stauffacher Solomon-style supergraphic, a signature Sea Ranch design feature. Private access ensures there is no need to enter the second bedroom. Gather around the Drexel Esperanto card table and make it a game night! Stone’s Throw’s multilevel entertainment deck features a propane grill, dining seating for eight, a sitting area with heat lamp, and a two-person hot tub. All of this is situated under the towering redwoods with views of the sky, the stars, and the occasional bright glint of ocean through the trees. Additional amenities available at Stone’s Throw include bicycles, corn hole and bocce balls (bocce court located at One-Eyed Jack picnic area), and an Old Town canoe. Stone’s Throw is not without its idiosyncrasies. Hot water is best used sequentially and can take a long time to warm up. Bring layers because Sea Ranch stays on the cooler side, even when indoors.
