Hello there! We are a NYC-born-and-bred family of four loving our recently renovated 1910 townhouse on Striver's Row in Harlem. One grown-up works in the music industry while the other works in fashion. The kids are in grammar and middle school. We are a relatively quiet family, busy during the week, and spend our weekends relaxing in and around the neighborhood. Striver's Row is a special place in New York City, unique and unexpected. Comprising 137th, 138th, and 139th streets between Adam Clayton Powell, Jr Boulevard and Frederick Douglass Boulevard, Striver's is a leafy and tranquil slice of Manhattan but just 15 minutes by subway to Times Square. The facade of each townhouse is protected by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Committee making visitors feel like they've stepped back in time. We spent two years designing our townhouse to become our forever home. Originally a five-floor townhouse, we've turned the bottom two floors into a rental unit, complete with a large kitchen (positively suburban by NYC standards) that features a four-burner gas cooktop, oven, full-size refrigerator, microwave, and room for a dining table. You find a washer and drier, another highly coveted NYC amenity. The are two bedrooms, both quiet but airy. A large living room is perfect for entertaining or a movie night and a downstairs area can double as a rec room or working area. Closets abound and there's even room for stroller and bicycle storage. Fun fact! Booker T. Washington III and his wife lived in our house in the 1970s! We told you it was historic ;) We are a short walk to west side express and local subways, dozens of bus lines, and several Citibike stations. There are three playgrounds, a basketball court, and a dog park a few minutes walk. And if you're a runner, we're about 15-minute jog to Central Park (perfect distance for a good warm-up)!
