Our charming, spacious Victorian house is at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in Waban, a village of Newton. We live on a private road with friendly, helpful neighbors. The house has a large garden with lots of trees, open space and a back patio with an outside table and chairs and a portable grill. The setting is leafy and peaceful and feels like a country house that happens to be close to the city! The house was built in the 1890s and has been updated and modernized over the years to create a light-filled, comfortable living space on three stories with hardwood floors throughout. Guests have access to the first and second floors but we plan to close off the third floor to store some of our belongings. The first floor has a formal sitting room with a stored flat screen TV and large dining room, an informal eating space, a recently updated kitchen, new refrigerator with a gas stove and a dishwasher, which opens onto a comfortable and spacious sun room overlooking the garden. There is a first-floor bathroom, a kitchen extension with a workspace and a separate laundry room. The second floor has three bedrooms, an office and a large full bathroom with tub, shower and linen closet. The primary bedroom has a bathroom with an ensuite shower. Two bedrooms have double beds and one has a queen bed. (If necessary, we could switch out a double for two single beds). There are desks in the two larger bedrooms. The house is extremely comfortable and will come fully furnished. Pillows, bed linen and towels will be provided. The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware and crockery and cutlery and has a new microwave, electric kettle and toaster. There is a garage for two cars and one additional off road parking space. Utilities and internet are included in the rent. We can introduce you to our long-term cleaners who are reliable and reasonably priced. We will organize and pay for garden maintenance. Both Waban and Newton Highland village centers are within walking distance (10 -15 mins) and Cold Spring Park – 60 acres of woodland with walking trails and public tennis courts - is a ten minute walk. A local lake is close by offering summer swimming to local residents. The house is close to two Green line T stops, Eliot and Waban (10 minute walk), for easy access to downtown Boston, academic institutions such as Harvard and Boston University (45 mins) and to the Longwood medical area and teaching hospitals (25 min). The I-90 is close by and it is a 25 minute drive to downtown Boston. We are within walking distance of Zervas elementary school and close to local middle and high schools. Boston College, Wellesley College, Brandeis University and Lasell College are all located in the area and easily accessible by car and/or public transport. We love our house and take very good care to maintain its special character. We are looking for tenants who will both enjoy our house as much as we do and will treat it respectfully. We ask that outside shoes are not worn inside the house.
