Description

This large, light-filled, peaceful one bedroom condo is on the 5th floor of a secure building in a gated complex. The unit faces west with a view through tree tops of gorgeous sunsets and looks out over gardens and architecturally unique townhomes. It is two blocks from the river (Washington Channel), the SW Waterfront metro station, a large grocery store, the DC SW Wharf, and Fort McNair. The location is fantastic for walking, running, biking, and kayaking, yet it is in the heart of DC. The closest metro station is Waterfront station on the green line. The condo is also near all transportation types: planes, boats, trains, buses, subway (i.e., “metro”), uber\lyft\taxi, and capital bikeshare stations. From Southwest DC it is easy to hop across the river by car, bike, boat, bus, or metro, to Alexandria or Arlington (in Virginia) and easy to walk, bike, bus, or metro to such key spots as Judiciary Square, the Capitol, the White House, several federal agencies (USDA, ED, NASA), the mall and all the memorials, the Smithsonians, and many of the embassies, other museums and cultural sites, as well as to several shopping and entertainment areas, including Navy Yard, DC’s historic Eastern Market and Barracks Row. The Southwest Jazz and Blues evenings just down the street in Westminster Church are truly unique. The condo is furnished, including a double bed (not a Queen) in the bedroom and a sofa that opens up to a Queen bed in the living room (bedclothes stored inside). Unfortunately, no in-unit washer and dryer, but ample laundry facilities are in the building’s basement. The condo is in River Park, a large, gated complex designed by the illustrious mid-century architect Charles Goodman. River Park comprises 11 acres, two high-rise buildings, and 130 townhomes surrounded by gardens. Amenities include 24-hour reception, laundry room, bike room, a large gym, outdoor barbecue area, the Music Room with a grand piano, the wood shop and craft room, the pollinator garden, and a swimming pool (summer only). (Note that some amenities require a small extra fee to use.) Staff is helpful and competent. Onsite service staff and building engineers ensure that most problems can be resolved quickly. River Park is a multigenerational community, with several children often playing in the common areas and a regular group of seniors meeting for coffee klatches in the mornings and afternoons. River Park is also very pet friendly. Most residents are owners, but renters are welcome to participate in community activities. River Park prohibits smoking in the buildings and on the grounds (except for a smoking area in the uncovered parking lot). I look forward to talking to anyone interested in subletting. I truly love DC and the neighborhood of SW DC and I hope anyone who sublets my place will enjoy the area too. River Park requires a minimum 6-month lease and that owners leasing their units have a DC business license. The rent includes all utilities, furniture, towels, bedclothes, and kitchenware.
