We’re a friendly couple (a journalist married to a medical school professor and physician). At our Stonehouse in Bethesda/Chevy Chase, MD, we take great pride in hosting an exclusive global community of researchers, academics, and scientists! Our guests, composed mainly of graduate students, visiting professors, post-doctoral researchers as well as post-bacs, provide a rich social and intellectual environment to complement your professional and academic activities at nearby Washington, DC universities and the National Institutes of Health. The Stonehouse is located in a quiet, safe, leafy green neighborhood that links to biking/hiking trails - along with close access to Bethesda and exciting DC neighborhoods. You'll receive a wonderful introduction to Washington, DC. Upon your arrival, you'll be treated to a home-cooked dinner. Rental: $1485 per month for third-floor suite with full private ensuite bathroom. Short or long-term leases are fine. All utilities included. Flexible dates to suit your schedule. ALL AVAILABLE ROOMS HAVE THEIR OWN BATHROOM. You'll have privileges for overnight guests, including visitors from abroad, at no extra charge. You'll be included in famous bagel, French toast, Belgian waffle and fresh fruit brunches, as well as social events involving academics and researchers. To date, we've hosted scientists from Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Dubai, England, Germany, Greece, India, Iran, Italy, Iraq, the Netherlands, Peru, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Syria, Turkey and Wales. This results in fascinating conversations among talented investigators who support each others' careers and socialize as time allows. Your Stonehouse suite will be light and bright, with a luxurious queen-sized bed, large windows, storage space and a well-appointed work area. Your Stonehouse amenities will include: An all new glistening kitchen on the ground floor, laundry, patio and high speed wireless internet. All utilities included!! From the Stonehouse, you can walk to downtown Bethesda, the Washington Metro and bus stop, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, coffee shops, restaurants, fitness clubs, movie theaters and many stores. Our neighborhood features basketball and tennis courts, a large regional park and a swimming pool. Best of all, the Stonehouse connects to a network of forested trails – including the Capital Crescent – that are great for runners and cyclists.
