Welcome to our newly built guest house in Venice, CA, complete with new, modern furniture and suitable for either one person or a couple. Thanks to the layout and abundant light, the small house feels spacious and peaceful. The neighborhood is friendly, quiet, and walkable. Downstairs is a living and dining space with polished concrete floors; there’s a dining table and chairs, sofa, reading chair, tv, and Apple TV box. The kitchen has new stainless steel appliances (stove/oven, full-size refrigerator, and dishwasher), plus a microwave, toaster/air fryer, electric kettle, and coffee grinder. There’s a full set of cookware and quality knives, and a big drawerful of all the various food/cooking accessories you’d ever need (and if there’s anything missing, we’re happy to supply it). There’s ample pantry storage for dry goods. We’ve also provided flatware, dishes, glasses, mugs, water carafes, etc. Upstairs is a peaceful bedrooom space with wood floors, a queen bed with a new, firm mattress, sheets, blankets, bedside tables and lamps, a reading chair, and ample closet space. The bathroom has a tiled shower with a skylight, with towels provided. One closet in the bedroom houses a brand-new washer/dryer. There’s heat and AC both upstairs and downstairs, on separate controls. Gas and private Wi-Fi are included in the rental fee. All the doors and windows either have shades, partial frosting, or plantings outside them for privacy. There’s a small patio with patio furniture outside the front door; the area is enclosed by pittosporum plants that are growing quickly and will provide a lovely privacy screen. Beyond that is a backyard we’re happy to share, with a large dining table and chairs, fruit trees, and if you’ll be staying for a bit, space for you to garden or grow herbs and vegetables. Private and secure entrance off the alley, or semi-private secure entrance from the street; both entries have motion-detector lights that go on at night, and the alley entrance also has a video cam. Plenty of street parking. Short bike ride to the beach (our bikes are available to borrow), 20-minute walk to all the shops and restaurants on Abbot Kinney Boulevard, short car ride to all major grocery stores, drugstores, post office, etc. Close to the 10 and 405 freeways, which will take you to UCLA, Westwood, and the Hammer and Getty museums within about half a hour, then farther along to LACMA, Mid-City, USC, and downtown LA. Hiking trails and mountain-biking in the Santa Monica Mountains are a short car ride away. A public indoor swimming pool is within a five-minute walk. My husband and I live in the main house (he’s in advertising and I’m a museum professional), along with our son when he’s home from college. We’re very happy to give you whatever advice or assistance you might need during your stay!
