Description

We are looking for one of more persons, or a family, to enjoy our home in the Thousand Islands while we have to be away for one or two years. It is a modern, comfortable and spacious home, located on 60 forested acres, and overlooking the St Lawrence River. There are three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a library, living and dining room and a chef's kitchen, all on one floor, with 17 foot ceilings, lots of windows and tall, glassed doorways, offering a truly serene environment. The heat pump and new water heater provide adequate air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter, though the wood stove and ample supply of seasoned firewood offer an alternative heating system and cozy warmth in the winter months. There is a good laundry area with washer and dryer. The carpeted floors offer added warmth and a play area for children, if needed. The home is completely furnished. There is also a sleeping cabin, almost hidden but nearby, which offers guests a place to sleep, or a writing retreat. It has electricity and heat, but no running water. I could be here to welcome and show you around but then I would leave you on your own to manage the home and property. Hopefully you would be comfortable with country living. You are somewhat isolated. There are friendly neighbors, but they are not too close by (it's a one km driveway through the property before you reach the home). There is, of course, lots of parking. Gananoque, a small town with grocery shopping and many amenities, is about 14 kms away. Kingston, Ontario, an historic and beautiful city, centered around Queen's University, is about 40 kms away -- an easy 25 minute drive. From the property you can see a bridge that takes you directly to the United States and Highway 81. In the other direction you are only 10 minutes from the 401 highway, close by far enough that you do not hear the traffic. Indeed, you feel like you are very much in the wilderness, except for a few cottages visible from the home but far across the river. If you have any questions about the home or the rental period, I will be easily contacted and would like to be of help.
