We are looking for tenants who will love this beautiful rural property as much as we do! Be at peace on 5 acres of shaded land on a bluff overlooking the James River, offset from the road for privacy. 3-BR, 2-bathroom house, detached garage, gazebo, fire pit, tree swing, back deck with patio table, invisible fence for pets, and detached barn featuring 20’x20’ finished, climate-controlled upstairs loft with a radio intercom (perfect for home office or art studio – when you want to work from home but not work IN your home). High-speed fiber internet with mesh wi-fi converge in the house and barn, plus very strong local 5G signal on the property. Home is fully furnished with king bed, queen bed, and twin bunk beds. Shelves are stocked with many literary classics and art books, and the kitchen is stocked with an excellent array of cooking supplies. You can walk to the James River for wading, swimming, kayaking, tubing, and fishing. The farm feels seclude yet is only a 10-minute drive to the grocery store, shops, restaurants, and library in historic Scottsville, and a 30-minute drive to Charlottesville. I commute to work at the University of Virginia, as do many Scottsville residents—it’s a beautiful drive on country roads with no traffic or stoplights! Our ideal tenant would stay from September 2026 through May 2027, but our dates are somewhat flexible, and we would consider shorter rental periods. We would have someone handle yard maintenance for you. The property comes with one sweet indoor/outdoor cat who sleeps in the barn loft (she does not go in the house) – tenants would need to be willing to refill her automatic food and water dispenser every few weeks and give her lots of love. She can be left alone for 2 weeks at a time. We have five chickens if you are interested in fresh eggs, but we can also rehome the chickens with a neighbor as needed. This is a one-of-a-kind haven for anyone working in Charlottesville, working from home, or looking for a writer’s/artist’s retreat.
