I’m seeking a tenant who will enjoy and care for my bright, comfortably equipped space while I’m travelling during sabbatical in spring 2027. The flat occupies most of the ground floor of a fully renovated late-Victorian semi-detached house, typical of downtown Toronto, located in the vibrant neighbourhood of Parkdale. It is very close to public transit links, walking and cycling paths and beaches on Lake Ontario, and High Park, the city’s largest park, which features a large pond and diverse wildlife. Parkdale is celebrated for its eclectic range of cafes, restaurants, bakeries and food shops, and home to a large weekly farmer’s market. The space is airy, elegant, and feels larger than its floorspace thanks to 9-foot ceilings, generous windows facing east, west and south, and an original pocket door dividing the bedroom from the main living space. The bedroom includes a double bed with new medium-firm latex mattress, large dresser, small closet, and a bay window equipped with dual blinds (blackout and light-filtering for daytime privacy). Cotton bed linen, wool duvets, pillows & towels are provided. The living/dining room is comfortably furnished with a small sofa, two armchairs, and a small dining table that seats three (also a pleasant place to work). Wall-mounted storage cupboards are available, and bookshelf space can be cleared for your use if required. The adjoining kitchen is equipped with a new (2025) induction stove top and new convection/ microwave oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, toaster and electric kettle. A small breakfast bar overlooking the back garden provides another place to sit and write. The bathroom features natural light and a rainhead shower. Laundry is on the second floor and shared with my respectful and pleasant long-term housemate, who occupies the upstairs unit. The house is a licensed duplex, equipped with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors throughout. The heating-cooling system and insulation is recently upgraded, meaning the house remains comfortable despite Toronto’s seasonal changes. The main entrance is shared with the upstairs tenant and includes storage space for coats and footwear. This unit has its own lockable door off the hallway.

Comments: Despite its central location, the immediate neighbourhood is quiet, characterised by many mature trees and supported by recent traffic-calming measures and cycling infrastructure.
Comments: Monthly rent includes a biweekly professional cleaning service, wifi and all utitlities.
Comments: The flat isn't suitable for someone with cat allergies, as my two cats will be residing with my upstairs tenant while I'm away. Cat lovers are particularly welcome and encouraged to self-identify!
My two cats will be residing upstairs for the duration; interaction with them is optional but cat lovers are certainly welcome.
Bringing occasional deliveries inside will be appreciated.
If you are willing to help with weekly watering of a few plants, I'll leave them in the apartment for you to enjoy, otherwise they can be temporarily relocated.
Comments: This is the first time I'm subletting this unit, but you can read reviews from past tenants who've rented my upstairs unit by clicking on my profile
