This private basement suite in my home is in the quiet, family-friendly residential Ottawa neighbourhood of Carlington, and offers the comfort of a home along with easy access to the city's parks, pathways, and universities. **CAD $1,950/month · 30-day minimum stay · Available 4 Nov 2026 – 30 Jun 2027** **The Space** The suite is 700 sq ft in total (450 sq ft living room/kitchenette, 200 sq ft bedroom), with its own separate exterior entrance leading down 10 stairs into the living area, so you'll have full privacy from the main house. The living room and kitchenette are bright, with two windows plus additional light from the exterior door; the space is spacious enough that the dining table doubles nicely as a desk for those who need a home office. There's also a bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a full bathroom with a heated towel rack. The kitchenette is well equipped, with a toaster oven/air fryer, kettle, coffee maker, microwave, induction hot plate, and fridge/freezer. There's a Roku TV in the living room, and the suite is genuinely quiet — a good fit for remote work, writing, or simply unwinding after a long day. All utilities are included in the rent: heat, air conditioning, hot water, and high-speed fibre internet. One dedicated outdoor parking spot is also included. Laundry is shared with the main house and located on the main floor — a short trip upstairs rather than in-suite. You're also welcome to enjoy the large garden, which includes a greenhouse and flower, vegetable, and herb gardens, plus a shared deck. One thing worth knowing upfront: the home's utility room (furnace, electrical panel, and storage for the whole house) is located within the basement suite, so I'll need occasional access to that area. Raven Park is just around the corner, and Carlington hill and woods are within easy walking distance — good for walking, running, biking, cross-country skiing, or snowshoeing. Grocery stores and pharmacies are close by, and the popular Westboro neighbourhood is a short drive or roughly a 25-minute walk away. The Carling/Kirkwood on-ramp to Highway 417 is under five minutes away, and the area is served by OC Transpo bus routes 53, 80, and 81.
