Whether you are commuting to nearby colleges and Universities, or looking for a quiet place to finish that novel, this home is a wonderful sojourn. There is a plethora of activities to find in the area as well, from cultural events at the UMass Fine Arts Center to local Tuesday night contact improv dancing at the Montague Retreat Center, and so much more. You are 18-25 minutes from Montague, Turners Falls, Orange, Greenfield, Hadley, and Amherst, and 35 minutes from Northampton and Athol, giving you access to grocery stores, shops, restaurants, UMass Amherst campus, arts venues, maker spaces, and outdoor recreation like hiking, biking, swimming, and skiing. The house has onsite laundry, hot tub, fire pit, and WiFi, and can be easily converted into 3 bedroom upon request (see photos). There is space on the property for gardening and storage, a back patio for eating outside and grilling, and even a chicken coop (currently without residents). There is ample space for parking, and lovely neighbors on the property just up the hill. There is a fire pit and little creek running behind the house. Driveway snow removal and trash/recycling pickup included. The house is heated and cooled with mini splits downstairs, and there is a pellet stove and oil furnace for additional/alternative heat in the winter. The upstairs is cooled by window-unit AC in the summer. There are two full bathrooms in the house, one downstairs and one upstairs. The stovetop and oven are electric. Happy to rent to friends, couples etc, or a family. The house is reasonably pet friendly - a dog or cat (or two) is fine, with a pet deposit. The yard is not fenced, and there are animals in the surrounding woods, but we’ve had many happy furball tenants. This is a great house for kids, with woods to explore and lots of local kid-focused activities. Launchspace Maker Space in nearby Orange has classes for kids and adults, and is a great place to try something new, from sewing to 3D printing. It is more important to us to have great tenants and guests who will care for the home. We live not far away, in Greenfield, MA and work in the local community. Hannah is the Executive Director of the Greenfield Business Association, and loves talking about everything there is to do and find in the Connecticut River Valley, and George is a stone mason with a custom stonework company. If you get him talking about the unique stone formations in Western MA and around the world, you better have some time on your hands. You can see his work on the property in the back patio, fire pit, and garden. We are happy to offer a central place that feels secluded, inviting guests to settle in for a short or long stay and explore the area. Western Mass has so much to offer, and this is the ideal setting, whether you are setting out on frequent adventures, or looking to dig in and get some work done. The local libraries in Wendell and Greenfield offer day passes to MASSMOCA and The Clark, as well as other museums in the area, and Boston and Worcester are an easy day trip away.
