London SE4 Brockley (Zone 2, near Greenwich) - Single bedroom in academic home Come to London and stay with us! We have a lovely single room to let in our spacious, light, comfortable and very clean 3-bedroom house, arranged over 3 floors, in beautiful Brockley in South East London. The room is on the first floor (that is the second floor in US terminology). The house has a large modern bathroom (bath and shower), a double reception / dining room with glass doors to the garden plus a modern kitchen with all appliances including a dishwasher, and a basement pantry and laundry. We have a large and very beautiful garden with mature trees and exotic plants that we happily share. The house is 7 minutes walk from Brockley Station or 10 minutes from St John's Station with fast tube and train access (London Overground for Jubilee Line, trains to London Bridge, Charing Cross, Victoria, and Cannon Street) plus numerous buses as well as the DLR nearby. Approx. travel times: - Walking distance to: Goldsmiths College 10 min, Greenwich University and Trinity-Laban 20 min; - Train to King's College Guy's Campus: 15 minutes, Denmark Hill Campus: 20 minutes - Tube/train to UCL, King’s College Strand/Waterloo Campus, SOAS, LSE, Guildhall, Royal Academy, British Library: 30 min, - Imperial College, Royal College 40 min. - Canary Wharf is approx. 20 minutes by DLR - London Bridge is 10 minutes by train. Our neighbourhood is one of the prettiest in London, leafy and quiet, with wide streets and tall trees, and large Victorian houses. It is safe and welcoming. Hillyfields park is nearby. In addition, we have the lovely Brockley market, a range of cafes and pubs, good shopping (Waitrose, Sainsbury, Tesco), and beautiful Greenwich, Blackheath, Dulwich, and the River Thames just around the corner. The City of London is approx. 20 minutes door to door, and you can be in the Westend in just under 30 minutes. All these places are close enough to get to by bicycle as well as by public transport. Plus: The new Elizabeth Line connects us beautifully to Heathrow! We are a couple working in academia (Goldsmith's, King's College), and occasionally our student daughter drops by for a visit. We are fairly quiet (but there is sometimes a little music practice), we are easy going and relaxed, and occasionally have friends for dinner. We are happy to share our home with you but will fully respect your privacy. You can use the kitchen, living/dining room, and happily the garden if you like. We also have three cats, and as much as we pride ourselves on a clean household, you should not be allergic to cats or horses (though the horse does not live in the house :) The room is furnished with a single bed (100x200cm), a desk and chair, an inbuild wardrobe, and book shelves. If you need more storage space, that can be arranged. The room is available from mid-August 2024 onwards. The room can be rented for a short term (one week minimum, please) but ideally we are looking for somebody staying for a little longer.
