Newton has an excellent school system and has been rated among the safest cities in the U.S. Prior families have come from Germany, Italy, Norway, England, Australia, New Zealand, and the U.S.A. for sabbaticals at Harvard, MIT, and other nearby institutions. Our circa 1926 4-BR, 2.5 bath fully-furnished home has been substantially updated over the years, including recent insulation in the exterior walls and new appliances. Six can sleep comfortably on beds with up to four additional guests on sleep sofas. The back yard is private and fenced-in, with well-established plantings and trees, a screened-in porch, a deck, and a brick patio. Master bedroom features a king size bed with a super-comfy memory foam mattress. Third floor Fully finished as a 1-bedroom suite consisting of a bedroom (two beds) with cedar-lined closet, living/lounge space with a queen sleep sofa and "zero gravity" recliner chair, and a full bathroom (stall shower) along with a storage room -- very convenient for visitors, in-laws, an "au pair"/nanny, or teenagers. Basement The basement has a large finished room useful as a playroom, music or hobby area, or extra guest space. There is also an adjacent storage room (shared with landlord), with a utility bathroom (toilet, sink, and stall shower). The driveway holds 3 autos and slopes down to a 10' x 25' covered storage area (with separate basement entry) suitable for keeping bikes, skis, lawnmowers, garbage cans, etc. out of the weather. Heat is forced hot water by oil with four zones independently controlled by “smart” thermostats. The boiler is an Energy Kinetics System 2000, one of the most efficient boilers on the market. Air conditioning is by window units (7) which we install in the Spring and remove in the Fall. Renter is responsible for utilities charges: heat (oil), electricity, internet, and water/sewer, along with house cleaning, basic lawn upkeep, and snow removal. We provide a lawn mower, snow blower, rakes, shovels etc. House cleaning, lawn-mowing, and snow-removal services are easy to hire if you prefer.
