London: Notting Hill - a pretty three-bedroom garden flat on period terrace

I rented this flat for five months while on sabbatical at UCL. It is superbly located, with easy access by bus or tube to central London, and a short walk to many shops and the interesting Portobello Road area. The street is quiet. The flat has a large window in the living area and all bedrooms are light from their own windows. It has one large and two smaller bedrooms, two showers, a separate bath and three(!) toilets. The beds were very comfortable with excellent quality bedding. Most of the time there were two of us, but the flat comfortably fit five adults for a couple of weeks. The kitchen is well equipped to prepare family-sized meals. The friendly landlord responded immediately to any queries and is entirely trustworthy.

Suzanne's flat is a lovely, lived in, clean, comfortable, connected place to bring your family in London. The three bedrooms are very comfortable and roomy and this light filled flat is also filled with every little thing you will need in the short term and, as in our case, for an entire summer of cooking, living, and moving around in London. Suzanne herself is an astonishingly gracious host who went above and beyond all my expectations of being helpful in circumstances that were really not her responsibility, but she was available anyway. She always felt like she was concerned for our wellbeing. The neighborhood is safe, walkable and connected to everything I and my 16 year old son could want. He LOVED this and so did I.

My daughter and I traveled to London in March of '22 and stayed for one week in this lovely, very well managed, garden flat in a central location in Notting Hill. We immediately felt at home and very comfortable in this beautiful, historic home with modern, updated features and fully equipped with everything we needed, plus more. (The bedding was particularly comfy.)

Communication between the owners was quick and easy and incredibly helpful as well as having access to their lovely housekeeper as needed.

The flat is very accessible and within walking distance to fine restaurants, shops and groceries, as well as easy access to the tube. We were very close to Hyde Park, Kensington and of course, all of Notting Hill.
We are hoping to stay again!

I stayed at Suzanne's Notting Hill flat for a total of five weeks in the summer of 2021 with my family. The flat was well designed, clean and welcoming, and the area was excellent in an of itself, and also for access to other parts of London. Suzanne's correspondance was clear and responsive, and she addressed any problems quickly and with the minimum of fuss. I would certainly consider stayng again.

We really loved our two-week stay in this apartment. The two-bedroom flat had everything we needed and was in an excellent location. There was great equipment to cook with in the kitchen and the beds were very comfortable. Even though the flat is down from the street level, there was a lot of cheerful light from the front windows and from the inner courtyard in the back. Having three separate full or half bathrooms was a surprising luxury, as was the wall of books, guide books, and music CDs! We were here for the Notting Hill Carnival which takes over the neighborhood - we loved being able to go watch the parades but then come back to our homey flat to rest! We would definitely stay in Suzanne's home again, given the opportunity!

My wife and I stayed in St Stephens Crescent in early 2015 for eight weeks. We had a splendid time there and cannot recommend this flat enough. We also agree with everything positive the previous reviewers said. We absolutely loved the area with its great restaurants, pubs and shopping opportunities. The flat is tranquille, cozy, bright (despite its basement location) and - thanks to Kasia the wonderful housekeeper – spotlessly clean. Overall, we enjoyed our stay there very much and have nothing but fond memories of it. Thanks to Suzanne for being such a perfect host!

This was my second visit to St. Stephen's Crescent, and I had a wonderful month. Suzanne is amazingly attentive and helpful, the flat is safe, convenient to everything, and very comfortable. Thank you Suzanne for making this visit so easy! I look forward to returning soon.

We enjoyed a week’s stay at this very comfortable apartment. It is in a great position being close to great restaurants and shops, yet it was extremely quiet and we felt very safe. Suzanne was extremely professional and helpful throughout all our dealings. Thank you.

Our family rented this delightful flat over the Thanksgiving holiday. I faced cooking a Thanksgiving feast in a strange kitchen in London with a bit of trepidation... but practically within a day of renting the flat, I received an amazing and generous list from Suzanne of every great butcher, pie shop and green grocer within a 5 or 10 mile radius (complete with phone numbers and tips on who delivered). On Thanksgiving day, a pecan pie arrived as a gift. We couldn't have asked for a more considerate host. The flat is located on a beautiful Georgian crescent in Westbourne Grove, which is at once quiet and centrally located, with two tube stops nearby. Suzanne's neighbor kept an eye out for anything we might need and valiantly loaned us a carving knife and a platter. The flat is very comfortable and our 23 year-old son had his own room nicely situated for privacy. We were all quite bowled over by the flat's extensive and intelligent book and CD collection, including a lot of London guidebooks unavailable in the US. Having a wonderful library made the flat quite homey though the decor is somewhat minimalist. It was a perfect base for exploring London. We would return in a heartbeat!

My family of four stayed in Suzanne's Notting Hill flat for two months in late spring and early summer of 2012. The flat was well-appointed and the neighborhood offered nearby restaurants and shopping, and easy transportation to many parts of London. Although the flat is below ground level, the windows in every room offer lots of natural light even on cloudy days. Beds were comfortable and all appliances were in great working order. The many books and CDs were a nice perk also! As other tenants noted, Suzanne is an attentive landlord, responded quickly to our questions and concerns, and was even able to suggest a babysitter for our nights out. We loved staying there and would do so again with no reservations.

My family (two adults, two children) lived in this flat for four months in the fall of 2011 and it was a fantastic home base for our sabbatical. The flat itself is well apportioned, providing all that a family could want for an extended stay, and the location is second-to-none in my opinion. All of London is within easy reach via nearby bus stops and the tube down at Notting Hill Gate, and the neighborhood offers a wealth of great places to eat and enjoy. Portobello is an easy walk to the west; Notting Hill Gate and Kensington Gardens are an easy walk to the south. Most importantly, Suzanne is a fantastically attentive, responsible and organized landlord -- emails and phone calls are returned immediately, and she is extremely conscientious about notifying her tenants of anything out of the ordinary. Moreover, if anything in the apartment needs attention (the stove needed to be replaced during our stay), Suzanne is remarkably diligent in seeing that things get done quickly & properly. My wife, two teenage boys and myself greatly enjoyed staying at this Notting Hill Flat. The location was good, it was very clean, and had more appliances that we could use in our week stay. The flat has good lighting and interesting architectural features. Galley kitchen is pretty big, and nicely laid out. They have a great selection of books, including many travel books about England. The wifi and TVs worked well. Suzanne was very helpful with local information and was quick in returning all our deposit. There are many good restaurants near by and the Portobello Road Market was great fun. The neighborhood is beautiful, quiet and seemed very safe. We've told all our friends we'd highly recommend the place if they visit London. Glen

As a family of 5 visiting London from Paris in April 2011, we had a fantastic stay. The flat was extremely comfortable, quiet and yet really well situated with all local supermarkets, coffee shops and transport links about 5 - 10mins away. Suzanne, the owner sent us fantastic local information to get us settled in (with a nice neighbour for any info or help on site). A lovely, welcoming flat. I'm sure we'll be back.
