While the area is up a hill and fairly residential, the essentials of city life are a block away with a cafe, three restaurants (one with a Michelin star), corner store with organic produce and fresh baguettes, the laundromat and beautiful Precita Park. A few blocks to the south is Bernal's Cortland street village with cafes, bars, restaurants, the library, Good Life Grocery and many shops. A bit further south you will find the Alemany Farmer's Market on Saturdays. Hipster Valencia Street and its bars, shops and restaurants is a short walk to the North. The unit is about a half a flight up from the sidewalk so there are six steps to the front door. Academics may rent for a semester or potentially exchange including to Manhattan (esp lower east), Paris, Lisbon.
