Description

This is a large bright lower ground floor flat for one or two people in an excellent location, in one the most gracious Garden Squares with classical architecture and mature plane trees in the very centre of London's metropolis. It is quiet at night (our now rarely seen urban fox still patrols his square) but surrounded by all urban amenities and excellent and varied public transport very near, though from here at Marble arch one can walk to many places. It is comfortably furnished with everything you might find in a normal home and because we live here we can bring over anything else you might need. The rent includes all taxes utilities internet etc. except a monthly charge of £30 for cleaning. We are near a Park and Ride bicycle rack. The house is dated 1821 with the old cast iron cooking range (alas no longer working). The bathroom and eat-in kitchen are new, the latter leading by French Windows onto a very small yard. Even so we must request, for the sake of subsequent tenants, that very strong spices are not cooked. We also go out to eat a good curry! During much of 19th Cent. it was the home of Albany Fonblanque a publisher and editor of the magasine "The Examiner". William Makepeace Thackery lived nearby and he and many other famous 19th Cent writers like Dickens and other notable people would gather here. I like to feel that I write this from his small sunny study.
