Description

Two-Bedroom Garden Flat on a Georgian Square — Clerkenwell, Zone 1 Available from 1 July 2026 • 6 to 12 months • Furnished A quietly beautiful two-bedroom flat on the lower two floors of a period townhouse, set on one of Clerkenwell's loveliest Georgian squares. Two minutes from Exmouth Market and on the border between Clerkenwell and Bloomsbury in London's Borough of Islington with easy access to the City, the apartment offers something genuinely uncommon in Zone 1: birdsong, a private garden, and evenings where the loudest sound is your own conversation. The flat runs across two floors and opens onto a walled garden large enough to entertain 10 people for drinks, and intimate enough for morning coffee under the trees. Inside, high ceilings and original features have been sympathetically kept; the furnishings are considered rather than staged, with a well-stocked library, antique pieces, and everything a sabbatical year or long stay actually requires — from proper kitchen equipment to storage. There are two bedrooms (one with a queen bed, one with a twin and fold-out couch), a living room that doubles as a study or occasional guest room (with pull-out sofa for visitors), one full bathroom with underfloor heating and two heated towel rails, and a convenient sink in the principal bedroom. The apartment has central heating — a real rarity in a Georgian building — and makes the flat comfortable year-round. Fast Wi-Fi throughout, in-unit washer/dryer, and an unobstructed view of Wilmington Square from the upper-floor bedroom. Suitable for a couple, a small family (up to two adults and two young children), or a single professional or academic. Previous tenants, largely visiting academics and professionals, have consistently described it as a home they were sorry to leave. The neighbourhood of Clerkenwell is the quiet-chic pocket between Farringdon, Angel, and Bloomsbury — Georgian terraces, independent shops, and a restaurant scene that routinely lands in Vogue, FT, Condé Nast Traveller, and the Times. At the end of the road is Exmouth Market: Moro, Morchella, Caravan, Café Kick, Pho Ga, Passione Vino. A few minutes further, The Eagle, Betsey Trotwood, Sekforde, Sadler's Wells theater, and the full spread of Farringdon and Clerkenwell Green. Getting around. Tube stops: Farringdon (Elizabeth line, Thameslink, Underground) is thirteen minutes on foot — direct to Heathrow, Gatwick, and Luton. King's Cross/St Pancras International is fifteen to twenty minutes on foot, with Eurostar to Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam. Angel, Chancery Lane, Russell Square, and Barbican are all within comfortable walking distance. Bus stops: The bus lines that are near us are 19 and 38 if you're heading to/from the British Museum, Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus, and Victoria Station. 63 goes to/from King's Cross/ St. Pancras and the British Library and towards Blackfriar Bridge on the Thames. 341 goes to/from Waterloo Station and towards the National Theater. Our bus stop is Tysoe Street, Mount Pleasant, or Calthorpe Street, depending on which bus you're taking. All bus stops are circa 1-2 minutes from the house.  There are also the "Boris bikes" now operated by Santander, but if you do ride bikes, you can get an annual membership and there are stations near us on Rosebery Avenue or Margery street.  Walking distance: Amnesty International's headquarters' is a minute's walk, LinkedIn's London offices are within a five minute walk, and Google's offices are within a twenty-five minute walk, as are the British Museum, British Library, LSE, UCL, City, King's College and SOAS. Covent Garden and Soho are all within a 15 minute walk, as is St. Paul's Cathedral.
