Austin Home Exchange (Near UT) for Northern Spain/Portugal

ABOUT US: We are an academic and educator family from Austin, Texas. Maryan is a PhD student at UT Austin’s School of Information studying AI ethics and cognitive human-AI interaction. Brian is a public high school Special Education teacher and department chair in Austin ISD. We travel with our well-behaved 4-year-old daughter. OUR AUSTIN HOME: We are offering our comfortable single-family home in Austin, Texas. • Location: Great proximity to UT Austin campus, downtown, and public transit/major routes. • Setup: Fully furnished, family-friendly, and equipped with high-speed fiber internet, dedicated workspace/desk setup for remote research/writing, central A/C, laundry, full kitchen, and a private backyard. • Ideal for: European academics, visiting scholars, or researchers seeking a comfortable Texas base during summer or sabbatical leave. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR (SUMMER 2027): • Destination: Northern Spain (Asturias, Cantabria, Galicia, or Basque Country) or Northern Portugal (Minho / Porto region). • Timing: Flexible 2 to 3 weeks between late July and early August 2027 (centered around the August 2, 2027 Total Solar Eclipse in Spain). • Home Needs: A relaxed, family-friendly home or apartment in a walkable town, coastal village, or university city. A setup with 2+ bedrooms and a kitchen is preferred for our toddler. • Openness: We are open to simultaneous home exchange, non-simultaneous exchange, or house-sitting arrangements.
