We are excited to offer our beautiful, fully furnished Altbau (historic period apartment) in Bockenheim, one of Frankfurt’s most charming, vibrant, and sought-after neighborhoods. The apartment features high ceilings, classic original hardwood parquet floors, and generous natural light, creating a bright, spacious, and cozy atmosphere where you will immediately feel at home. Bockenheim is known for its friendly, welcoming vibe and rich history. It is packed with inviting cafes, independent bakeries, excellent restaurants, and lively local spots. While the neighborhood itself offers plenty to explore, its central location and exceptional public transit connections—including subway (U-Bahn), tram, and bus lines just moments away—make navigating the city effortless. You can reach Frankfurt’s bustling downtown center in just a few minutes, yet you are also within easy reach of green parks and peaceful riverside walks when you want to unwind. Our home is clean, meticulously maintained, and ideal for scholars, researchers, or anyone seeking a comfortable and authentic living experience in Central Europe. We are a quiet, tidy, and reliable academic couple from Frankfurt, Germany, seeking a furnished rental or home exchange in Berkeley for six months, from November 2026 through April 2027. During this period, I will be a Visiting Researcher at UC Berkeley's Institute for the Study of Societal Issues (ISSI) on a Fulbright Grant, while my partner will be conducting research at Berkeley Law on a fellowship. Because we are both completing our PhDs, we hold ourselves to high standards of care, responsibility, and respect for our surroundings. While we do not need anything overly elaborate, it is very important to us that our accommodation is clean, well-maintained, and comfortable so we can feel at home during our stay. We are non-smokers, non-partiers, and take great care in keeping our living space organized and neat. Ideally, we are looking for a studio, 1-bedroom, or 2-bedroom apartment within walking distance or a short, direct commute to the UC Berkeley campus. Reliable Wi-Fi for research work, basic cooking facilities, and convenient laundry access would be wonderful. Additionally, we are very open to a reciprocal home exchange with our clean, modern, fully furnished apartment in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, which could be ideal for anyone planning a sabbatical or research trip to Central Europe.
