Tucson, Arizona, United States
We are working at another university so our lovely, well-maintained historic house is available. It has lovely amenities for working from home and is a relaxing and elegant refuge. With lovely desert gardens front and back, this lovingly maintained home is a perfect reflection of the best of Tucson. The house has comfortable, quiet, private office spaces for concentrated work. The location provides straightforward access to the University of Arizona and to Banner-University Medical Center. This historic, double brick and stucco Spanish Colonial Revival house is located in the Rincon Heights Historic District, on the south side of the University of Arizona. You can walk, or ride the provided bikes, 4 blocks north to the University campus and then a little further to the Banner–University Medical Center. The house is perfect for visiting academics, doctors, or visitors who appreciate a well-furnished, low-maintenance, and high-end historic home with easy access to the university. The well-maintained main house was built in 1928 and has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, and large sitting room. The small original front bathroom has a tub. The larger bathroom has an Italian tiled shower that glows and shimmers under its own skylight. The shower is complemented by a large lit circular mirror and a marble wash basin set in a lovely wooden cabinet. The house is furnished throughout with colorful rugs on the polished wood floors. The quiet main bedroom has a comfortable California king-sized bed with a deluxe latex mattress. The other bedroom has a “full” size single bed with latex mattress as well as a piano. The artistically-gated driveway leads to covered parking on the side of the house. Front and back covered porches and outdoor patios are perfect for morning coffee and reading. There is a large sitting room with a skylight and a huge north window that look onto a lush backyard landscape with hummingbirds in the garden. The house has coved ceilings, oak hardwood floors, and well-designed lighting. Enjoy the living room with its lovely sofa and fireplace. Plenty of firewood is provided to enjoy evenings by the cozy fire. Outside, you can also enjoy a fire in the large Mexican chimenea on the flagstone patio or relax to the sounds of an Italian fountain. An outdoor gas heater similar to the kind used in restaurant patios makes a cool winter evening spent outside more than pleasant. Dining or parties in the private backyard take place around the massive hand-crafted mesquite table made by a local artisan. For cooking inside, there is a gas stove with a new range hood, a large new refrigerator, quality pans, and a large collection of spices. A large maple cutting board countertop next to the stove makes meal preparation in place a joy. For coffee lovers, there is an Italian burr grinder and espresso machine. A lovely copper countertop rounds out this remodeled kitchen. For outdoor cooking, use the deluxe Weber gas barbecue grill with a smoker and a separate burner for pans. The detached (630 square feet) Casita was built in the back garden in 2005. For working from home, the main house and Casita provide several choices of desks and workspaces. In the Casita, there are two private office areas, each with a comfortable office chair, high speed internet, and a high-quality computer monitor. One has a sofa bed. These two separate office areas make simultaneous zoom meetings feasible. Each office area has a closable door to the rest of the Casita and French doors that open to the patio. A laser printer with scanner is provided so you can print using Wi-Fi from any location. There are many comfortable reading areas in the house and in the Casita with many windows and skylights for good quality natural light. The combined kitchen/dining area of the Casita has a table, sink, small refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher. A large washer and dryer are also found in the Casita. There is a new television as well, which can be set up with Cox or DIRECTV if desired. The Casita has two final highlights: a bathtub for two as well as an outdoor shower. The utilities (gas, electricity, water and sewer, security system, and fast internet) are all paid by the owners; reasonable utility use is requested. Cleaning services are also provided. The value of the utilities and cleaning are approximately $600 per month. The main house and Casita both have central heat and air conditioning. This lovely house and its gardens are in an amazing location with easy access to the University of Arizona, the Banner-University Medical Center, and the 4th Avenue and historic downtown shopping and entertainment districts.
