WHY WE LOVE OUR PARIS HOME: - Luminous, with 15 foot ceilings. - So private one can be naked without being seen. - Museums, metros, shops, restaurants & parks on your doorstep! - Perfect as a writer's haven, lovers' nest or family home. APARTMENT Our two-bedroom home lies at the bottom of an enchanted garden. It feels like one is entering a magic, timeless space. It's a hidden gem and even locals have no clue of its existence. A wrought-iron staircase lures one up to the master en-suite bedroom. The wondrous sense of calm and space makes it the perfect place to fall in love again. RECOMMENDATION from Marguerite J. (Princeton) " I'd like to highly recommend for rent a most delightful 84 m2 two-bedroom apartment in Paris. One of the great attractions is that this spacious, double height artist's studio has garden views on both sides, so is very quiet for sleeping. It's also the perfect base from which to walk to the Eiffel Tower, museums, lovely parks, excellent restaurants, markets and the best-kept secret (where savvy Parisian women shop)! Ideally situated, it has the benefit of being on two metro lines (direct to Notre Dame and Latin Quarter), both within a minute's walk from the house. Double bedroom + en-suite bathroom (bathtub), second double bedroom and bathroom (shower), huge living/dining room & open kitchen/bar. 2nd floor (European) walk-up. Free Wifi. The apartment belongs to an Oxford alumna who is highly efficient and responds quickly to any questions. It is available throughout the year and includes a welcome bottle of bubbly :-) It's so pretty and comfortable you may not want to leave. " TRANSPORT We are very well connected, being close to both the metro (line 6) and the RER (fast metro, line C) as well as bus stops (22, 32, 52, 63). Direct lines to Notre Dame, the Latin Quarter, Bibliothèque Nationale, Champs Elysées, Musée d'Orsay, Versailles, etc. NEIGHBOURHOOD The 16th arrondissement (Paris is divided into 20 arrondissements) is one of the safest in Paris. It is where Marcel Proust was born, where Le Corbusier lived and created some of his greatest designs, and where many choose to stay because it is cooler than the Marais and Latin Quarter which tend to get very crowded and noisy (I have lived in both!). The apartment is set in picturesque Passy, which is a stone-throw from everything that makes Paris magical: the Tour Eiffel, the best boulangerie, markets, the Monet-Marmottan Museum (a must!), the river Seine. In fact the 16th has more museums than most others in Paris, including the Palais de Tokyo (Contemporary Art), Musee Guimet (Asian Art), Musee d'Art Moderne (stunning) and Galliera (Fashion Museum) - to name but a few that you can easily stroll to from the house. WALKS My favorite stroll takes me to the Eiffel Tower along the river Seine. To get there, I turn right out of the house, past the art deco theatre (definitely worth a peak), along romantic alleyways which come straight out of another century (gaslight and cobblestones), past Balzac's house (now a Museum), through a little park close to the Musée du Vin (a charming Wine Museum which has wine-tastings) then down to the river past the film set of "Last Tango in Paris", across a striking iron bridge (regularly used for fashion shoots and one of the best places to photograph yourself with the Eiffel Tower). Once on the Left Bank ('Rive Gauche'), I sometimes stop off at the Japanese Cultural Institute or Australian Embassy, both of which have wonderful art shows. A few more yards and... I am standing beneath the Eiffel Tower. Time to look up and… make a wish! (The American Library is also close by, with a great selection of cultural events for all ages). EATERIES & BARS Be sure to go to "La Gare", a nearby restaurant that used to be a railway station (eat on the elegantly transformed railway tracks and platforms or have a drink in the trendy bar or outdoor terrace). Another favourite is "Le Sheffer" for a real Parisian brasserie experience, but THE most mouth-watering food is to be found at "Le Bois": it's only one minute's walk from the house, and may well become your 'cantine'! ADDITIONAL NOTES - The property is very secure, having three sets of coded entries to get into the buildings. - Second floor walk-up. - Local supermarkets (which also sell wine in France) deliver to the door. - The apartment is currently ONLY AVAILABLE UNFURNISHED or for purchase.
