RECENTLY REMODELED BERKELEY APARTMENT GREAT LOCATION

The apartment was in excellent condition. It was very clean and had everything I needed, including a large modern kitchen with a dishwasher. The location is great, three blocks from Ashby BART station and from Berkeley bowl. All of Berkeley such as the campus, is reachable by bike pretty easily. At the same time, it's quiet and feels safe. Kent is a great landlord. He was very helpful and supportive. I really hope to come back sometime.

This was a great place to stay. I was visiting UC Berkeley for 4 months and this was an ideal choice. It's a good distance to either walk or cycle to campus. Ashby BART is also very close - which is handy for trips to San Francisco and getting to and from the airport.

The apartment is a good size (for 1 or 2 people) and all facilities are there and in good working order. The place is quiet and I was never disturbed by noise.

Kent is a good landlord and helped me out whenever necessary.

We spent three lovely months from January to March with our 2 year old daughter in this recently modernized and very cozy apartment. The apartment has EVERYTHING you could need for a sabbatical leave, and if it hasn't, Kent and Shuji are determined to solve any problems you may face. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for cooking and baking. We could not have imagined what was missing. The rest of the apartment is well equipped too. The guest couch is comfortable for sleeping and there are enough sheets and pillows to accommodate you and even guests. The apartment has very good heating to keep you warm in the winter months. The TV has Netflix and Amazon Prime accounts. Behind the house is a small but beautiful garden in which Kent and Shuji grow lemons, apples and persimmons. We loved picking fresh California lemons every night to make a lemon and ginger tea. Our daughter was excited to be able to choose between three great playgrounds within a 5-minute walk. The city and UC campus are easy to reach by public transport -- busses and BART are very close. The most efficient way is by bike (12 minutes), which you can easily buy on Craigs list. There is also always free street parking nearby if you want to rent or buy a car. The amazing nearby Berkeley Bowl (a grocery store for organic and natural products) is within walking distance - it offers all the food you can dream of, in prime quality and reasonably priced (although "reasonable" in terms of prices has its own dimension in Berkeley -- be prepared!). We also felt very safe. The house is in a quiet family area with schools, sports facilities and a large public library nearby. The latter also has a huge kid's section. Perhaps the best thing about the apartment is Kent and Shuji, who were incredibly nice and helpful. They are very trustworthy, kind, and responsible people. Whatever we asked them with respect to the small problems of everyday life abroad - they provided help on the spot. For example, we needed a crib and an additional desk in the apartment and got it the same day. They also shared some of their delicious homemade treats with us and even invited us for a delicious home-cooked dinner. They live upstairs in a separate apartment and are easily reachable if required. However, we felt we had all the privacy we needed in our little realm. We have never felt obliged to interact with them. (I am writing this for introverts - like myself - who may be concerned about the prospect of having a lot of social interaction.) However, I highly recommend everyone to chat with them and ask them about their interesting hobbies and lives. When we came to Berkeley to look for an apartment (as more or less introverted and private people), we hadn't expected to make friends with our landlords. Yet, after only three months we almost felt like leaving family. If we return to Berkeley one day we will definitely stay here again !!!

We really enjoyed our 4 month stay in Kent and Shuji’s nice apartment. The apartment is quite newly renovated, nicely furnished and has a big, very well equipped and modern kitchen. The apartment is bright and has a cozy atmosphere and there are a lot of beautiful plants and flowers all around the house and in the garden. Kent and Shuji, who live upstairs, are very helpful and kind hosts, who are always available if you have questions or need help with something. At the same time, they give you privacy. There is easy street parking with no permit required just in front of the house and BART, bus, shopping (Berkeley Bowl!) and restaurants are within 5-10 minutes walking distance. We felt very safe walking around in the neighborhood (which is also very quiet at night).
